Integration of fermentation and gasification
11772994 · 2023-10-03 · ·

The description describes the integration of a gas fermentation process with a gasification process whereby effluent from the gas fermentation process is recycled to the gasification process. The one or more effluents which can be recycled include a stream comprising microbial biomass, a product stream comprising at least a portion of the at least one fermentation product, a by-product stream comprising fusel oil, and a waste water stream comprising microbial biomass. The stream comprising biomass can be dried before it is passed to the gasification zone. At least a portion of the waste water stream can be passed to the gasification process where one use is to replace at least a portion of the process water. The waste water stream can be further processed to produce a clarified water stream and a biogas stream comprising methane either or both of which can be passed to the gasification process.

The system includes a cell culture vessel, at least one monitoring layer, at least one measurement device, and a communication component. The cell culture vessel may include at least one cell culture chamber configured for cell growth and for closed-system operation. The monitoring layer is external to the at least one cell culture chamber. In some cases, the communication component is configured to transmit data from the monitoring layer to a remote location.

ELECTROPORATION, DEVELOPMENTALLY-ACTIVATED CELLS, PLURIPOTENT-LIKE CELLS, CELL REPROGRAMMING AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE

The claimed invention is directed towards a novel combination cell electroporation/cell culturing apparatus which can be termed a cell culture dish suitable for in vitro electroporation, and towards a device suitable for in vivo electroporation—both useful in methods suitable for the generation of developmentally-activated, pluripotent, pluripotent-like, multipotent, and/or self-renewing cells which are capable of beginning to differentiate in culture into a variety of cell types and capable of further differentiation in vivo. The claimed invention is also directed towards the generation of desirable, differentiating somatic cell populations transplantable to animals or patients, genetic modification of endogenous and exogenous cells, and the treatment of patients suffering from diseases that may be ameliorated by these methods. This invention also provides methods for preventing, treating, or retarding disease, for example, immunodeficiency virus (e.g. HIV-1, HIV-2, SIV, FIV, etc.) infection.
