Increased production of terpenes and terpenoids

This invention provides recombinant cells and methods for producing terpenes and terpenoids by increasing production or accumulation or both of isoprenoid precursors thereof.

Production System and Method of Production for Product Selected from Nitrogen-Containing Product and Fermented and Cultured Product

Provided is a novel production system for a product selected from a nitrogen-containing product and a fermented and cultured product that does not involve (or can minimize) the transport of liquid ammonia. A production system for a product selected from a nitrogen-containing product and a fermented and cultured product can include: an ammonia synthesis apparatus in which an ammonia-containing gas is synthesized by reaction of a source gas containing hydrogen and nitrogen in the presence of a supported metal catalyst containing as a support one or more selected from the group consisting of: i) a conductive mayenite compound; ii) a two-dimensional electride compound or a precursor thereof; and iii) a complex formed of a support base containing at least one metal oxide selected from ZrO.sub.2, TiO.sub.2, CeO.sub.2, and MgO and a metal amide represented by a formula M(NH.sub.2).sub.x (where M represents one or more selected from Li, Na, K, Be, Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba, and Eu; and x represents a valence number of M) supported by the support base; and a production apparatus that produces a product selected from a nitrogen-containing product and a fermented and cultured product using ammonia originating from the ammonia-containing gas obtained by using the ammonia synthesis apparatus.

Chemically modified sophorolipids and uses thereof

The present disclosure provides a sophorolipid composition that can be used for inducing protein expression in a fermentation host. The sophorolipid composition described herein can be prepared from a natural sophorolipid mixture. Acid treatment of the natural sophorolipid mixture results in a mixture of monoacetylated, deacetylated, and/or diacetylated sophorolipids. The chemically modified sophorolipid composition, or isolated components of the chemically modified sophorolipid composition, can be used as inducers for protein production in filamentous fungi.

USE OF MICROORGANISMS FOR THE PREVENTION AND TREATMENT OF INTESTINAL DISEASES

The invention relates to acetylcholine-producing microorganisms for use in the prevention and/or treatment of intestinal diseases, and/or reduction of risks of intestinal diseases, and/or improvement of intestinal health as well as promoting healthy gut flora. The acetylcholine-producing microorganisms may be provided as a pharmaceutical dosage form or as additive to functional food or food supplemental products. Also encompassed is a method for the production of acetylcholine by use of Lactobacilli. Further the invention refers to microbially produced acetylcholine for use in the treatment and/or prevention of intestinal diseases.

COSMETIC AND/OR PHARMACEUTICAL COMPOSITION CONTAINING A BACTERIAL EXTRACELLULAR PRODUCT FROM PSEUDOALTEROMONAS ANTARCTICA, AND USE THEREOF

Extract of a bacterial strain for its use in treatment and/or care of the skin and/or mucous membranes, as well as its cosmetic and/or dermopharmaceutical compositions. In particular, its use for sebum reduction and skin firmness.

COPPER SULPHIDE LEACHING IN FERROUS CHLORIDE MEDIUM WITH BACTERIA
20170335275 · 2017-11-23 ·

A method for leaching secondary and primary sulphides of copper in a ferrous chloride medium with iron-oxidising bacteria adapted from the crushing of the mineral from the mine, includes steps of: mixing the mineral from the crushing with concentrated sulphuric acid; transporting the material mixed with sulphuric acid by means of a belt; adding a liquid leaching solution at an intermediate point during transport on the belt, the solution consisting of: iron (II) sulphate to reduce the redox potential of the solution-mineral mixture to values less than 550 mV Ag/AgCl; iron (III) sulphate; bacteria and archaea of the mesophile- and thermophile-type belonging to the genera Acidithiobacillus, Leptospirillum and Sulfulobos; and sodium chloride to produce a chlorinated environment in solutions. The method also comprises the subsequent steps of: heaping the material on heap pads; during the resting step, injecting air warmed by a liquid/air exchange system; and leaching the heaped material.
