Elongate profile, an assembly comprising the elongate profile and a method for producing the elongate profile
The invention relates to an elongate profile extending in a longitudinal direction and having a first end and a second end, wherein between the first end and the second end the profile has at least one cutting line forming a cutting pattern for at least one profile section to be removed from the profile, wherein after removal of the at least one profile section from the profile the first end of the profile is bendable towards the second end of the profile and/or vice versa.
Structural member assemblies, beams, and support structures comprising same
A beam can comprise a plurality of steel channel members that extend along a longitudinal axis. The plurality of steel channel members can cooperate to define an interior volume that is configured to receive concrete therein. The plurality of steel channel members can comprise a first C-shaped channel member defining a channel therein and having first and second flanges. The channel of the first C-shaped channel member can define a portion of an outer boundary of the interior volume. The first and second flanges can extend into the interior volume. A plurality of internally projecting members can be spaced along the longitudinal axis. The plurality of internally projecting members can extend into the interior volume from a steel channel member of the plurality of steel channel members. A strap can extend across the interior volume so that when the interior volume is filled with concrete, the strap engages the concrete.
Non-weld joist reinforcement system and method
A joist reinforcement apparatus is disclosed for a joist having a top chord, a bottom chord, and plurality of cross supports extending between the top chord and the bottom chord, the plurality of cross supports forming panel points along the joist. A panel point bracket assembly can be securable about one of the panel points of the joist. A load bracket assembly can be securable to either the top chord or the bottom chord of the joist. An adjustable coupling assembly can have a first end pivotally connected to the panel point bracket assembly and a second end pivotally connected to the load bracket assembly. The apparatus can help provide non-welded single point load reinforcement on a chord of a joist.
Composite structural member for a building structure
A composite structural member for a building structure comprises a first elongate portion having a first end region and a second end region and a second elongate portion having a first end region and a second end region. The second end region of the first elongate portion is connected to the first end region of the second elongate portion so that the composite structural member provided thereby is substantially longer than either of the first and second elongate portions. The first elongate portion may comprise a first member suited for resisting high magnitude forces and the second elongate portion may be a second member, less well suited for resisting high forces but having lower cost per unit length. The composite structural member may be a rafter, especially a rafter of a portal frame.
Method of making a laminated wood product
The present disclosure relates to a method of producing a laminated wood product, comprising providing a plank presenting a pair of parallel major surfaces, a pair of minor surfaces, a pair of end surfaces and a longitudinal direction parallel with said major and minor surfaces and perpendicular to the end surfaces, said plank having a water content of more than 25% by weight, preferably more than 30% by weight, initializing at least one longitudinal crack in the plank, drying said crack initialized plank to a moisture content of less than 20% by weight, and laminating said crack initialized plank by gluing at least one of its major surfaces to a surface of a second member, thus forming the laminated wood product. The disclosure also relates to a laminated wood product, which may be formed according to the method.
Extendable arm, variable shape frame, and variable shape three-dimensional structure
An extendable arm is comprised of a plurality of cross units arranged in one direction with adjacent ones of the cross units being pivotally coupled at their ends via end coupling shafts. Each of the cross units is comprised of first and second rigid members crossing each other in an X shape and pivotally coupled at their intersection via a middle coupling shaft. The extendable arm includes an engaging protrusion and an engaging recess which move toward each other as the extendable arm extends and fit together when the extendable arm extends to a predetermined length.
AN ELONGATE PROFILE, AN ASSEMBLY COMPRISING THE ELONGATE PROFILE AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING THE ELONGATE PROFILE
Shapeable bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions for architectural or other construction components
Flexible extrusions of selected die patterns may be slid or snapped together to create bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions that may be used to create structural components for architectural and a plurality of other construction purposes. Components such as standard rectangular construction beams, arches, domes, architectural trees, cylinders, molds, puzzling mazes, furniture, rollercoaster track, and other applications are illustrated and described in embodiments herein. Bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions may be formed into a straight beam, bent into an arch, or twisted into other forms as desired. Bundles of slidably-interlocked extrusions may for example, comprise subsets of different length bundles of extrusions that may extend the length create long-span support beams or that may branch away at an angle from the starting beam to form a treelike structure.
