ROOFING PANELS WITH WATER SHEDDING FEATURES
Roofing panels with water shedding features may be installed on the roof of a house or other structure in lieu of or as an underlayment for traditional roofing materials. The water shedding features can be built into a base of the roofing panels, as part of a frame for the roofing panels, or formed as part of a waterproofing layer applied to the base of the roofing panels, or which can be configured as a roofing panel. The roofing panels also can be installed in overlapping courses along a roof with water shedding features applied thereto or incorporated along one or more peripheral edges. The water shedding features of adjacent roofing panels will collect and divert water away from the upper surfaces and/or away from headlap and/or sidelap joints defined between the roofing panels.
MICROPOROUS MEMBRANES, UNDERLAYMENT, ROOFING, FLASHING, WRAP, AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THE SAME
In at least one embodiment, a microporous membrane having a moderate to high water vapor permeability and high liquid water penetration resistance is disclosed. The microporous membrane may be used in building applications, including as or as part of a building wrap, a rain screen, a roofing underlayment, a flashing, a sound proofing material, or an insulation material. The microporous membrane may include at least one thermoplastic polymer, at least one filler, and at least one processing oil. The microporous membrane may be flat or may have ribs. The microporous membrane may include at least one scrim component. A method for forming the microporous membrane is also disclosed.
Roof integrated photovoltaic system with improved serviceability
A roof integrated photovoltaic mounting system includes a plurality of aluminum rails mountable in horizontal spaced relationship on a roof for receiving courses of photovoltaic panels or photovoltaic tiles. The PV panels or tiles have an extruded attachment feature along their forward edge portions that defines a downwardly projecting forwardly facing hook. Panels or tiles are installed by placing each panel or tile on a pair of rails and sliding the panel or tile down until its forward facing hook engages beneath a rear facing tongue on a rail below. A PV panel or tile in a next lower course is installed by slipping its rear edge beneath the forward edge of a panel or tile in a next higher course. The panel is then hinged down about its rear edge until its forward edge portion engages a support rail below. The panel is then slid down until the hook of its attachment fixture engages beneath the tongue of the downslope rail. When the entire array is installed in this manner, the forward edges of the panels are held down by the hook and tongue engagements and the rear edges are held down by being underneath the forward edges of panels in a next higher course. The procedure is reversed to remove a panel for servicing or replacement. In the case of solar glass tiles, water troughs are installed on the rails underlying abutting ends of tiles in a course to collect rainwater and direct it onto the upper surface of a tile in a next lower course.
INTEGRATED ROOF SYSTEM WITH ENGINEERED WOOD
A multi-layered integrated roofing plank or panel with a base layer comprising engineered or manufactured wood, a water resistant barrier layer covering at least the outer face of the base layer, and at least one of the edges of the base layer. A texturizing material also may be affixed to, or integrated with, the water resistant barrier layer. The edges of the roofing plank or panel may be configured as part of a joint with adjacent planks or panels, including, but not limited to, shiplap joints, tongue-and-groove joints, bead-and-cove joints, butt joints, or combinations or variations thereof.
LIQUID APPLIED ROOFING SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR FORMING ROOFS
A method of forming a sloped roof can comprise obtaining a base layer comprising at least one of a permeable mesh, woven fabric, non-woven fabric, plastic, foam material or combinations thereof; applying the base layer over a roofing substrate of the sloped roof; and applying a liquid roofing material to the base layer to form a liquid applied roof.
Vapor-Permeable, Substantially Water-Impermeable Multilayer Article
This disclosure relates to an article that includes a nonwoven substrate, a first film supported by the nonwoven substrate, and a second film such that the first film is between the nonwoven substrate and the second film. The first film includes a first polymer and a pore-forming filler. The difference between a surface energy of the first film and a surface energy of the nonwoven substrate is at most about 10 mN/m. The second film includes a second polymer capable of absorbing and desorbing moisture and providing a barrier to aqueous fluids.
Coated fabrics including expandable graphite
A method for preparing a roofing membrane in the form of a roll, comprising the steps of: providing a polymeric membrane; providing a fabric having a coating disposed thereon; attaching the polymeric membrane to the fabric to form a composite; and rolling the composite. Wherein the coating includes expandable graphite dispersed within a binder.
Modular tile, a functionalized batten, a pipe and a method for producing a pipe
A tile, preferably a roof tile (1), for collecting energy from kinetic, thermal and light sources. The tile comprises a housing (2) with at least one photovoltaic cell (3) for collecting energy from a light source and at least one thermal collector (4). The tile comprises at least one wind channel (5) with a wind turbine (6).
Building panels, systems, and methods
Gypsum panels, methods for their manufacture, and systems and methods for monitoring environmental conditions with such panels are provided herein. The panels include a gypsum core having a first surface and an opposed second surface, a first facer material associated with the first surface of the gypsum core, and an environmental sensor assembly associated with the gypsum panel and configured to detect an environmental condition of the gypsum panel and wirelessly communicate data on the environmental condition to a reader.
