An embodiment retractable outside door handle assembly includes a handle unit including an outside handle having a pushing portion and mounted on a handle housing, wherein the outside handle is configured to protrude by rotating in a first direction, an actuator including an operation rod configured to selectively push the pushing portion, a door latch lever rotatably mounted on the handle housing and configured to rotate during protrusion of the outside handle by operation of the actuator, and a damage prevention mechanism between the operation rod and the pushing portion and configured to push the pushing portion when the actuator is operated, wherein the damage prevention mechanism is configured to prevent a pushing force of the pushing portion from being transmitted to the operation rod when the outside handle rotates in a second direction opposite the first direction in a protruded state.

Latch assembly having self re-latching feature

A latch assembly having primary position, a secondary position, and an unlatched position is disclosed. The latch assembly includes a striker and a retention member. A slot of the retention member is shaped to receive the striker when the latch assembly is in the primary position. The latch assembly includes a detent lever defining a catch configured to engage with the retaining feature of the retention member to secure the latch assembly in the secondary position. The latch assembly includes a linking member coupled to the detent lever, a memory lever moveable about a pivot axis, and a release lever. The memory lever defines a retention surface configured to engage with the linking member when the latch assembly is in the unlatched position. The release lever is rotatable about a shared axis of rotation and operatively connected to the memory lever when the latch assembly is in the unlatched position.

VEHICLE DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY WITH BACK-UP MECHANISM

A vehicle door handle assembly includes a handle grip that is movable between a flushing position in which it is flush with an exterior door panel surface and a ready position in which it is protruding and graspable by a user. The vehicle door handle assembly also includes a back-up mechanism that includes a flap covering at least partially a cavity arranged inside the handle grip, the flap being movable between a closed position in which it covers the cavity inside the handle grip and an open position in which it permits access to the inside of the cavity, hence allowing a user to insert his fingers or an object inside the cavity and to pull on the handle grip in order to move it from the flushing position to the ready position.

AUTOMATIC DOOR RELEASE WITH MECHANICAL LINKAGE

A system for managing door operation of a vehicle includes a door system and a doorjam system configured for the door to close against. The door system includes a door having a handle mechanism, an indicator mechanism coupled to the handle mechanism and actuated by motion of the handle mechanism, and a latch feature configured to be engaged for latching the door closed. The doorjam system includes a sensor configured to generate a sensor signal indicative of a state of the indicator mechanism, and a latching mechanism configured to secure and release the latch feature of the door. Control circuitry of the vehicle is coupled to the sensor and latching mechanism, and is configured to receive the sensor signal, and control the latching mechanism based on the sensor signal. The control circuitry determines state information for the vehicle and determines whether to secure or release the latch mechanism.
