Gate with counterweight and lowering exchangeable span

The gate has an exchangeable span that is fixed to the load bearing beam and is connected with pulley bearings and rope-slings to the system of adjustable counterweights. The drive system is fitted with an electric drive with a worm-wheel mounted to the load bearing beam that travels vertically along the worm. The beam, span and the drive travel on adjustable guiderails inside a reinforced concrete pit in the direction opposite to that of counterweights. The load bearing beam is fitted with rollers and retaining rollers mounted to the cover. Emergency (manual) operation of the gate is possible by turning a crank handle connected with the worm, having released the lock that prevents the worm from rotating on its axis.

Embodiments described herein relate to a self-extending/retracting gate for a platform. In one embodiment, safety gate includes a housing that extends laterally from a back support attached to the platform. The gate includes a sliding member that is operable to retract at least partially into the housing toward the back support to substantially conceal the sliding member within the housing and provide an opening beyond the housing for users to access the platform and to extend from an opening of the housing away from the back support to block access to the platform while the housing supports the sliding member. The gate includes a gate movement assembly within the housing between a rear portion of the sliding member and the back support. The gate movement assembly is operable to cause the sliding member to extend from the housing and retract into the housing according to a height of the platform.

A barrier element composite for a barrier element arrangement of a gate of an access control system includes at least one first substantially optically transparent barrier element comprising a first side surface having a first light coupling area, a second side surface having at least one first light decoupling area and a third side surface forming a first visible surface and arranged opposite to the second side surface, at least one second substantially optically transparent barrier element comprising a first side surface having a second light coupling area, a second side surface having at least one second light decoupling area and a third side surface arranged opposite to the second side surface, wherein the third side surface of the second barrier element is connected to the second side surface of the first barrier element. An at least partially substantially optically transparent separation layer is arranged between the third side surface of the second barrier element and the second side surface of the first barrier element. Light decoupled through the first light decoupling area and the second light decoupling area is visible at the third side surface of the first barrier element.

Self-actuating flood guard

A plurality of flood prevention units are vertically stacked one over another inside a frame mounted over ventilation opening on a wall. Each unit includes a buoyant gate pivotally mounted by one or more pivotation members about a horizontal axis transverse to sidewalls of the frame for pivotation of the gate on rise of water buoyantly lifting the gate rotationally upwardly between said sidewalls for engagement with an upper deck horizontally connecting the sidewalls. A limiter limits the extent of self-actuation rotation of the gate. The gates are open during non-flooding conditions, allowing ventilation through the building opening, and sequentially close from lowest to highest on rise of water activating each gate in order, allowing ventilation to continue until the highest gate is closed.

Adjustable barrier for partitioning a building space
10041249 · 2018-08-07 ·

A wall for partitioning space within a building comprises interconnected barriers. For adjustable height, each barrier comprises a lower panel and a slidable and overlapping upper panel. Barriers are interconnected at vertical edges by a combination of rigid pins and slots or by hinge assemblies. Mating male and female parts of a hinge assembly attach to both panels of adjacent barriers with adjustable heights, and enable selective angling of barriers relative to each other. A filler barrier, for filling a space along a wall that is less or more wide than a standard width barrier, has sliding inter-nested frame parts that attach to the two panels of a standard barrier. A clip secures the top of a barrier to the grid of a suspended ceiling.

Flood vent having a panel

According to one embodiment, a flood vent panel includes a plurality of insulation pieces coupled together to form at least a portion of the flood vent panel. The flood vent panel further includes one or more insulation piece connectors coupled to the plurality of insulation pieces, and configured to couple the plurality of insulation pieces together. The flood vent panel is configured to be coupled, at least indirectly, to a structure, so as to at least partially block a fluid passageway through an opening in the structure. The one or more insulation piece connectors are further configured to uncouple one or more of the plurality of insulation pieces from the panel when at least a predetermined amount of pressure is applied to a portion of the flood vent panel by one or more of a fluid or an object carried by the fluid.
