RIGLESS METHOD TO PARTIALLY LIFT OR RETRIEVE WELLBORE TUBING STRINGS FROM PLATFORM AND SUBSEA WELLS
20230220739 · 2023-07-13 ·

A method for lifting a tubular string from a wellbore includes cutting the tubular string at a selected depth in the wellbore. A check valve is disposed in the tubular string above the selected depth. An interior of the tubular string is pressurized with gas to displace liquid in the tubing through the check valve. The tubular string is lifted, and a portion of the tubular string extending out of the wellbore is cut.

Fusible metal clay, structures formed therefrom, and associated methods

Structures for a tool surface of a downhole tool are constructed from a metal clay molded in a wet state. The wet state clay is a workable combination that can have a braze alloy grain, a tungsten carbide grain, and a binder. Additional cutting inserts can be embedded in the molded clay. Heat treatment applied to the molded metal clay causing the binder to be combusted and consumed. The braze alloy melts and then cools into a fused state with the tungsten carbide grain therein. The structure can affix to the tool surface of the tool by first being fused and then attached by brazing to the tool. Alternatively, the structure can be positioned in a fusible state adjacent the tool surface. When the heat treatment is applied, the structure fuses together and forms a metallurgical bond with the tool surface of the tool.

Method for separating nested well tubulars in gravity contact with each other

A method for lifting a first well tubular nested in a second well tubular from contact with the second well tubular includes moving a wellbore intervention tool to a location where the first well tubular is in contact with the second well tubular. The well intervention tool is operated to displace a wall of the first tubular until either (i) the wall of the first tubular contacts the second tubular and separates the first tubular from contact with the second tubular, or (ii) an opening is made in the wall of the first tubular. After the opening is made, an object is displaced from the wall of the first tubular until the object contact the second tubular and lifts the first tubular from the second tubular, wherein a circumferentially continuous annular space is opened between the first well tubular and the second well tubular.

Drilling out frac plugs

Apparatus and method for drilling out frac plugs. An example apparatus may include a data system configured to be communicatively connected with wellsite equipment for performing drill-out operations of frac plugs installed within a well. The data system may be operable to receive current drill-out data and historical drill-out data, determine optimal operational parameters of the wellsite equipment based on the current drill-out data and historical drill-out data, and display the determined optimal operational parameters for viewing by the human operator, thereby permitting the human operator to cause the wellsite equipment to perform the drill-out operations at the optimal operational parameters. The current drill-out data may include current specifications of the frac plugs. The historical drill-out data may include historical specifications of other frac plugs installed within other wells, and historical operational performance of other wellsite equipment during previously performed drill-out operations of the other frac plugs.

CUTTING TOOL AND CONTROLS FOR DOWNHOLE MECHANICAL SERVICES

Systems and methods presented herein provide for cutting in a borehole or casing. A cutting device can include a first arm having a cutting blade, wherein the cutting blade has side cutting teeth and an axis of rotation that is substantially at a right angle with respect to an axis of the tool body. The cutting device can also include a second arm with a bumper. The first and second arms articulate away from the elongate body in different directions to reduce vibrations while cutting. A control device can automate the cut based on hydraulic pressure measurements. Additionally, the cutting device can also be extended or rotated on a rotary index. The cutting device can rotate around a J slot, in an example.

SLOT CUTTER SYSTEM AND OPERATIONS

Devices, systems and methods for cutting openings in a wellbore tubular by a slot cutting assembly having an anchoring system and a slot cutting tool. The anchoring assembly anchors the slot cutting assembly within the wellbore. The slot cutting tool has an extendable cutting blade that is pushed into the wellbore tubular to cut an opening through the tubular. The slot cutting tool may have an extendable stabilizing arm to stabilize and assist with cutting by the blade. The slot cutting assembly may have azimuth and depth sensors to assist with positioning the tool at a desired position downhole. A surface system may be used to control the position of the slot cutting assembly downhole.

Drill bit with hybrid cutting arrangement

A drill bit includes a bit body providing one or more blades and defining a cone section extending from a centerline of the bit body a first distance, a nose section extending from the cone section a second distance, a shoulder section extending from the nose section a third distance, and a gauge section extending from the shoulder section a fourth distance. The drill but further includes one or more cutting elements mounted to the one or more blades outside of the cone section such that the cone section is void of cutting elements, and a plurality of milling elements secured to the bit body within the cone section.
