An insert assembly unit for a muffler of an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine includes two walls (12, 14) arranged at spaced locations from one another. Each of the two walls has a circumferential edge area (20, 22) configured for fixing at a circumferential wall of a muffler. An exhaust gas flow unit (26) is arranged between the two walls. The exhaust gas flow unit includes a flow duct area (34) with an exhaust gas outer flow opening (38) to be positioned directed towards an opening in a circumferential wall of a muffler, a first mounting duct area (40) with a first mounting opening (44) for fixing the exhaust gas flow unit at a first wall of the walls, and a second mounting duct area (42) with a second mounting opening (46) for fixing the exhaust gas flow unit at a second wall of the walls.

Method and apparatus to enable package space reduction in a vehicle exhaust system

A vehicle exhaust system includes a hot end having one or more hot end exhaust components that treat emissions generated by an engine and a cold end that includes at least one cold end component that attenuates noise. At least one acoustic volume is in parallel or serial to the hot end to further attenuate noise.

Fluid sensor protection assembly

A fluid sensor protection assembly for protecting a fluid sensor comprises a housing receiving the fluid sensor. The housing includes a bottom wall having a lower inner flow-through opening, a top wall spaced apart from the bottom wall in a vertical direction and having an upper inner flow-through opening, a lower cover member covering the lower inner flow-through opening on an outside of the housing, and an upper cover member covering the upper inner flow-through opening on the outside of the housing. The lower cover member is spaced apart from the lower inner flow-through opening in the vertical direction and forms a lower outer flow-through opening. The upper cover member is spaced apart from the upper inner flow-through opening in the vertical direction and forms an upper outer flow-through opening. A continuous flow-through passage through the housing extends between the lower outer flow-through opening and the upper outer flow-through opening.

An exhaust system for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes a single exhaust-gas inlet line, two exhaust-gas outlet lines connected in an exhaust gas-conducting manner to the exhaust-gas inlet line, and an active silencing device. A vehicle exhaust system includes a component housing defining an internal cavity, a first exhaust gas treatment element positioned within the internal cavity, a second exhaust gas treatment element positioned within the internal cavity and axially spaced from the first exhaust gas treatment element by a gap, and a resonator volume in communication with the internal cavity.

A mix box for an exhaust system of an internal combustion engine, the mix box being used to incorporate additives into an exhaust gas flow and including at least one inlet tube, at least one outlet tube and a housing for accommodating the inlet tube and the outlet tube, wherein: the housing delimits a volume of the mix box in relation to the surroundings; the inlet tube has an inflow section located inside the housing, which inflow section is provided with at least one inflow opening for introducing the exhaust gas into the housing; the outlet tube has a metering device designed as an injection nozzle at the end of the outlet tube and has an outflow section located inside the housing, which outflow section has a length (La) and is provided with at least one outflow opening for discharging the exhaust gas from the housing; a flow zone is provided between the inlet tube and the outlet tube and the flow zone, over at least 30% of its length (La), is free of flow guiding elements which deflect the flow in a circumferential direction and which have an outer face and an inner face inside the volume.

Exhaust gas aftertreatment system, and internal combustion engine with exhaust gas aftertreatment system

An exhaust gas aftertreatment system with an exhaust gas inlet, at least two exhaust gas aftertreatment elements, and a flow chamber. The exhaust gas inlet, the at least two exhaust gas aftertreatment elements, and the flow chamber are arranged relative to one another and fluidically connected together such that exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas inlet into the flow chamber can be distributed to the at least two exhaust gas aftertreatment elements. The exhaust gas passes through at least one first of the at least two exhaust gas aftertreatment elements along a first flow direction, and the exhaust gas passes through at least one second of the at least two exhaust gas aftertreatment elements along a second flow direction, wherein the first flow direction and the second flow direction are oriented at least diagonally to each other, preferably anti-parallel to each other.

The conical portion includes an inclined wall inclined from a mainstream of the exhaust gas to increase the transverse section of a path of the exhaust gas. A recess recessed inward is formed in a portion corresponding to each of the long sides of the inclined wall of the conical portion.
