Control of a gas turbine engine
A thrust demand signal is provided to a processor of a gas turbine engine and is modified, according to growth time constants of a rotor and/or a casing of the engine, in order to control the rotational speed or the rate of change of rotational speed of the engine so as to prevent contact between the rotor and the casing.
Gas Turbine Power Generation System
This gas turbine power generation system includes: a two-shaft gas turbine; a power generator that is driven by the two-shaft gas turbine and that generates power; an electric motor that is driven by power generated by the power generator; and a frequency converter that converts a frequency of the power that is transmitted between the power generator and the electric motor. The frequency converter is disposed within a predetermined range near the electric motor at the side opposite to the two-shaft gas turbine side relative to the electric motor so as to face the plane perpendicular to a rotation shaft of the electric motor.
METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING AIRCRAFT ENGINE INLET TOTAL PRESSURE
A method of determining an inlet total air pressure includes determining a first parameter indicative of a first inlet total air pressure. The method includes executing a sequence that includes: determining a mass air flow passing through the air inlet based on the first parameter, determining a Mach number of air passing through the air inlet based on the mass air flow, determining a static air pressure at the air inlet, determining an air pressure ratio based on the Mach number, generating a subsequent parameter indicative of the revised inlet total air pressure based on the air pressure ratio and the static air pressure, and substituting the subsequent parameter for the first parameter. The method includes executing at least one additional instance of the sequence with the subsequent parameter, and outputting the subsequent parameter as the inlet total air pressure.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR BOWED ROTOR START MITIGATION USING ROTOR COOLING
An apparatus and method of cooling a rotatable member enclosed within a casing are provided. The gas compressor includes a rotor, a plurality of stages of compression extending along said rotor from an inlet stage configured to receive a flow of relatively low pressure gas to an outlet stage configured to discharge a flow of relatively high pressure gas, a casing at least partially surrounding said plurality of stages, and a conduit extending radially inwardly from said casing to an area proximate said rotor.

System for controlling a turbine
A system for controlling a turbine is disclosed. The system includes a turbine control fuel governor that has a plurality of VCPIDs operating in parallel with one another. Each VCPID is associated with a respective turbine parameter and one or more external parameters. Each VCPID incorporates feedback from the parallel operating VCPIDs to feed an integral term of a current VCPID in the following manner: a previous derivative gain and a previous proportional gain are summed and subtracted from a selected output for the turbine to yield a result, and the result is input to an integral gain portion of the current VCPID.

HYBRID AIRCRAFT TURBINE ENGINE STARTING SYSTEM AND METHOD
A system and method for starting an aircraft turbine engine includes a primary starting subsystem and a secondary starting subsystem. The primary starting subsystem is coupled to a shaft of the aircraft turbine engine and has a dedicated power source. The secondary starting subsystem is also coupled to the shaft of the aircraft turbine engine and has a shared power source. A controller controls the operation of the primary starting subsystem and the secondary starting subsystem while starting the aircraft turbine engine. The primary starting subsystem may be an Auxiliary Power Unit coupled to an Air Turbine Starter. The secondary starting subsystem may be a Starter Generator coupled to a battery also used to power the Emergency Hydraulic System. The primary starting subsystem is always operated at full power during starting while the secondary starting subsystem is preferably operated in a sequence of different power levels.
Systems and methods for controlling liquid flow to a turbine fogging array
Methods and apparatus for controlling liquid flow to a turbine fogging array. Some implementations are generally directed toward adjusting the output of a variable output pump that supplies water to the turbine fogging array. In some of those implementations, the output is adjusted based on a determined target pump output value that is indicative of a pump output required to change the moisture content of intake air of a combustion turbine to meet a target humidity value. Some implementations are generally directed toward actuating at least one control valve of a plurality of control valves that control liquid throughput to one or more fogging nozzles of a fogging array.
