Implementing variable valve actuation on a diesel engine at high-speed idle operation for improved aftertreatment warm-up

Increasing engine idle speed, combined with modulating the timing of the exhaust valve during idling, increases heat transfer from the engine to aftertreatment systems to reduce the time required for the aftertreatment system to reach a minimum temperature for efficient operation. The resultant increases in heat transfer include an increase of at least 30% in the flow rate of exhaust gases and an increase of exhaust temperature by at least 25° C.

In at least one embodiment, the anvil can include at least one lip and/or groove configured to removably retain the buttress material to the anvil until deformable members extending from the surgical staple are bent by the anvil and are directed toward and contact the buttress material.

Method for ascertaining the target rotational speed of a drive machine of a work machine comprising a continuously variable transmission and a working hydraulic system

A process for determining a setpoint rotational speed of a work machine engine, having a continuously variable transmission, based on operation of power hydraulics. The setpoint rotational speed for highly productive operation is determined, without knowledge current operation of the power hydraulics, by a basic engine speed setting. With knowledge of the current operating state, the setpoint rotational speed is determined by the basic speed settings and low or high engine speed settings. The low speed setting alone determines setpoint rotational speeds that are lower than the basic speed setting or a combination of the low and basic speed settings. The high speed setting alone determines setpoint rotational speeds that are higher than the basic speed setting or a combination of the basic and high speed settings. The speed settings can comprise a setpoint rotational speed range of above a reciprocal transmission range of the variable transmission.

Method for controlling the engine speed of a utility vehicle

A method is provided for controlling engine speed of a drive engine of a utility vehicle having a drivable loading apparatus. The method includes detecting or predicting a driving movement of the loading apparatus, and requesting an increase of engine speed if the movement of the loading apparatus is predicted or detected.

Transport valve system for outdoor power equipment
11326566 · 2022-05-10 · ·

An engine including a fuel tank, a carburetor, a speed control lever, and a transport valve. The carburetor includes a throttle valve movable between a first throttle position and a second throttle position. The speed control lever is coupled to the throttle valve and is movable between a first position corresponding to the first throttle position and a second position corresponding to the second throttle position. The transport valve is fluidly coupled between the fuel tank and the carburetor, and includes a valve element moveable between an open valve position allowing fuel flow between the fuel tank and the carburetor, and a closed valve position preventing fuel flow between the fuel tank and the carburetor. Movement of the speed control lever to the second position moves the valve element to the closed valve position to stop fluid flow between the fuel tank and the carburetor.

Controller for internal combustion engine, control method for internal combustion engine, and memory medium

A controller for an internal combustion engine, a control method for an internal combustion engine, and a memory medium are provided. The controller determines whether an execution request of a temperature-increasing process for an aftertreatment device for exhaust gas has been issued. When the execution request is determined as having been issued, supply of fuel by a fuel injection valve corresponding to a specified cylinder is deactivated. The specified cylinder is one of cylinders. An air-fuel ratio of air-fuel mixture in a cylinder of the cylinders that differs from the specified cylinder is set to be richer than a stoichiometric air-fuel ratio. When the temperature-increasing process is executed, an adjustment device is operated so as to reduce the fuel concentration in an intake port connected to the specified cylinder.

Position sensor and position detection method

A position sensor of the present invention includes: a magnet that moves together with a moving body; a magnetic sensor that detects a magnetic flux generated by the magnet; and a detector that detects an anomaly of the magnetic sensor based on a detection value detected by the magnetic sensor. The magnetic sensor is set so as to detect the detection value taking a value on a locus preset in accordance with a position of the moving body, and the locus is set so that a change rate of the detection value corresponding to change of the position of the moving body differs for each of a plurality of sections set within a movement range of the moving body. The detector detects the anomaly of the magnetic sensor based on a relation between the detection value and a comparison value that is a value corresponding to the locus.

Engine idle speed optimization

A system may include determining whether a fuel intake rate indicative of an amount of fuel consumed by an idling engine over time satisfies a threshold in comparison to a reference fuel intake rate. The reference fuel intake rate may be indicative of a predetermined amount of fuel consumed by the idling engine over time. The system may adjust a predetermined minimum speed at which the engine idles in response to determining that the fuel intake rate satisfies the threshold.
