Electrified military vehicle
A military vehicle includes a chassis, a front end accessory drive (FEAD), and circuitry. The chassis includes an engine and an integrated motor generator (IMG). The FEAD includes multiple accessories and an electric motor-generator. The circuitry is configured to operate the military vehicle according to different modes. The circuitry is configured to receive a user input indicating a selected mode of the modes, and operate the chassis and the FEAD of the military vehicle according to the selected mode. The modes include an engine mode and an electric mode. In the engine mode, the engine drives the FEAD and the tractive elements of the military vehicle through the IMG for transportation. In the electric mode, the engine is shut off to reduce a sound output of the military vehicle and the IMG drives the tractive elements of the military vehicle for transportation and the electric motor-generator drives the FEAD.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM
An engine including an engine block having a cylinder defining a front of the engine, a blower housing coupled to the engine block and defining a hot half positioned adjacent the front of the engine and a cool half opposite the hot half, and an electric starter system positioned within the blower housing. The electric starting system includes a starter mount assembly coupled to the blower housing, an electric starter motor retained by the starter mount assembly and positioned in the cool half, and a battery mounted to the blower housing and positioned in the cool half. The battery is electrically coupled to the electric starter motor.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE WITH ELECTRIC STARTING SYSTEM
An internal combustion engine includes an engine block, a crankshaft configured to rotate about a crankshaft axis, a flywheel coupled to the crankshaft and positioned above the engine block, an outer housing positioned above the engine block and the flywheel, and an electric starting system. The electric starting system includes an electric motor and an energy storage device positioned above the flywheel and below the outer housing. The energy storage device is electrically coupled to the electric motor to power the electric motor. When the electric starting system is configured to rotate the crankshaft to start the engine when the electric starting system is activated.

Starter mounting
An internal combustion engine is described, including at least one starter (1) having a starter transmission that is situated at the opposite end of the crankshaft or at the same end to transfer the rotation of the starter (1) to the crankshaft, the starter (1) being situated at the crankcase (4) of the internal combustion engine and the starter (1) being inserted into a receiving hole (7) and being situated in a fastenable manner at the crankcase (4) with the aid of at least one screw (2), and a holder (5) being situated at the starter (1).
Pull start assist device
A pull start assist device may include a frame with a base and a longitudinal member. The longitudinal member may include a first pivot axis and a second pivot axis displaced from the first pivot axis. The device may also include a pedal arm with a pedal on a first end and a second end pivotally coupled to the first pivot axis of the longitudinal member. A swing arm may be provided with a handle receiver on a first end and a second end pivotally coupled to the second pivot axis of the longitudinal member. A connection link maybe used to connect the swing arm and the pedal arm, whereby a pull start handle of a powered tool may be supported by the handle receiver and the pedal displaced by the foot of a user, actuating the swing arm and starting the powered tool.
Anti-kickback clutch for starter gear
In a permanently engaged starter system (20), a one-way clutch (40) is located between a starter motor (21) and a starter gear (54) for initiating the start of an internal combustion engine. The clutch (40) can include a starter gear (54), an outer race (56), an inner race (60), a roller cage (42) supporting a plurality of roller disks (46), and at least one spring (52). The roller cage (42) can include an enlarged inertia ring supported adjacent to a radially outwardly located peripheral edge (50) for retarding rotational movement of the roller cage (42) relative to the inner race (60) in response to acceleration of the starter motor (21). The spring (52) biases the roller cage (42) relative to the inner race (60) toward a disengaged clutch position, such that the plurality of roller disks (46) engage the inner race (60) and are spaced from the outer race surface (56).
Electrified military vehicle
A military vehicle includes a chassis, a front axle coupled to the chassis, a rear axle coupled to the chassis, and a driveline. The driveline includes an engine, an energy storage system, a front end accessory drive positioned in front of and coupled to the engine, a transmission coupled to at least one of the front axle or the rear axle, a second motor coupled to the transmission and electrically coupled to the energy storage system, and a clutch positioned between the engine and the second motor. The front end accessory drive includes an air compressor and a first motor. The first motor is electrically coupled to the energy storage system. The clutch is spring-biased into engagement with the engine and pneumatically disengaged by an air supply selectively provided thereto based on operation of the air compressor. The driveline is operable in an engine-only mode and an electric-only mode.
