Gas turbine engine including a rectifierless electronic control unit and method for supplying power to same
A gas turbine engine comprises an electronic control unit adapted to control functions of the gas turbine engine and having a DC power input unit coupled to receive DC supply power and an ignition igniter coupled thereto. The ignition exciter includes an AC power input unit adapted to receive AC power from an AC power source within the gas turbine engine, a power rectification unit coupled to receive the AC power from the AC power source and configured, upon receipt thereof, to rectify the AC power into DC power, and a DC power output unit coupled to receive the DC power from the power rectification unit and configured to supply the DC power to the DC power input unit of the electronic control unit as DC supply power and/or the ignition igniter.
Expandable pistons
A piston is arranged to move in a cylinder to define a variable volume chamber, and can expand in two directions under the influence of pressure in the variable volume chamber to provide sealing against the cylinder. The piston can comprise a primary foot and a secondary foot arranged to move relative to each other in a first direction. The primary foot and the secondary foot can each comprise plural segments arranged to move relative to each other in a second direction. The piston may be suitable for use in an inner rotor, where it forms the end of a projection of the inner rotor and fully exits and reenters the cylinders.
Ignition control apparatus
An ignition control apparatus applied to an internal combustion engine including a spark plug includes an in-cylinder pressure acquisition section, a frequency signal transmitting section which transmits a frequency signal having a predetermined frequency to a switching element, and a weak discharge generating section which causes the frequency signal to be transmitted during an intake stroke and controls the frequency signal such that a weak discharge is generated at the spark plug a plurality of times. The weak discharge generating section controls the frequency signal so as to cause a duty ratio of the switching element to be changed in accordance with the in-cylinder pressure, such that the frequency of generating weak discharges during a time period in which the frequency signal is transmitted becomes higher than a predetermined frequency.
Ignition system of an aircraft turbine engine
A turbine engine ignition system comprising a spark plug having excitation and return terminals, and a spark plug exciter connected to the excitation terminal. The return terminal is connected to an equipotential reference-forming structure, the exciter device is connected to a command line for a signal to supply an excitation signal to the spark plug. The ignition system comprises a control device comprising current and voltage sensors, a first voltage comparator, a second current comparator, and a microcontroller receiving output from the two comparators. The first comparator compares the voltage sensor signal to a first reference value and the second comparator compares the current sensor signal to a second reference value. The microcontroller generates a signal indicating a malfunction of the ignition system if the current sensor signal is lower than the second reference value while the voltage sensor signal is higher than the first reference value.
IGNITION DEVICE
An ignition device includes a case having an opening and a bottom wall, a coil bobbin arranged in the case having a through hole, a first end and a second end, an ignition coil wound around the coil bobbin, a core made of magnetic material and projecting from the opening and from the bottom wall, and extending through the coil bobbin, a retainer having a ring portion and multiple leg portions extending from the ring, and a filling resin in the case. The core extends through the ring portion and the leg portions extend in between an inner surface of the coil bobbin and an outer peripheral surface of the core toward the bottom wall, and the case is filled with the filling resin in a manner that at least a part of the ring portion is not covered by the resin.
Gaseous fuel injectors
A gaseous fuel injector for supplying gaseous fuel to a gaseous fuel combustion engine includes an injector housing which receives an injector assembly and supplies gaseous fuel thereto. The injector housing has an inlet at a first end, a nozzle with an outlet at a second open end and a chamber between the inlet and the outlet. The injector housing includes an ignition arrangement at the second open end.
Control device for compression self-ignition engine
A compression self-ignition engine performs a SI combustion in which an air-fuel mixture is combusted due to flame propagation triggered by spark ignition, and a CI combustion in which the air-fuel mixture is combusted due to self-ignition induced by the flame propagation. An ECU comprises a first control means for controlling a SI ratio serving as an index relating to a ratio of a heat amount generated in the SI combustion with respect to a total heat amount generated in the SI and CI combustions or a heat amount generated in the CI combustion; and a second control means for controlling an in-cylinder temperature before the SI combustion. The ECU is configured to change a combustion state of each of the SI and CI combustions by both the first and second control means according to the operating state of the engine.
