HTS BEARING AND FLYWHEEL SYSTEMS AND METHODS
A bearing and flywheel system can include a first bearing portion having an opening of a first dimension there through and a central longitudinal axis, a second bearing portion having a second dimension, the second dimension being smaller than the first dimension, and a flywheel coupled to the second bearing portion. The bearing portions can include high-temperature superconductor(s) and/or magnets. The second bearing portion can be disposed at least partially within the opening through the first bearing portion. A gap can exist between an outer surface of the second bearing portion and an inner surface of the first bearing portion. The second bearing portion can be configured to rotate relative to the first bearing portion.
POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT PUMP SHAFT BEARING ASSEMBLY
The application relates to a positive displacement pump shaft bearing assembly that comprises a shaft having a shaft lodging and a shaft rotational axis. The assembly further comprises a housing having a housing lodging and one rolling element that is located between said lodgings. The rolling element comprises a rolling element centre point that coincides with the shaft rotational axis.
Thrust foil bearing
A thrust foil bearing of the present disclosure includes a base plate which includes an insertion hole through which a rotation shaft is inserted, a back foil which is disposed around the insertion hole and supported by the base plate, and a top foil which is supported by the back foil, wherein the top foil includes an expansion portion in which a width of the expansion portion in a virtual straight line direction in which a virtual straight line extends decreases in a direction orthogonal to the virtual straight line, the virtual straight line being supported by the back foil on a most downstream side in a rotation direction of the shaft.
Axial magnetic suspension
The present invention generally relates to an apparatus and method for axially supporting a shaft. In one aspect, a magnetic suspension system for supporting a shaft in a housing is provided. The magnetic suspension system includes an array of magnet members disposed between the shaft and the housing. The array of magnet members comprising a first magnet member, a second magnet member, and a third magnet member, wherein the first magnet member and the second magnet member generate a first force that is substantially parallel to a longitudinal axis of the shaft and the second magnet member and the third magnet member generate a second force that is substantially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the shaft The first force and the second force are configured to position the shaft axially within the housing. In another aspect, a method of supporting a shaft along a longitudinal axis of a housing is provided. In a further aspect, a suspension system for supporting a shaft in a housing is provided.
A TURBINE GENERATOR
A turbine generator comprises an elongate member, a support structure, a turbine wheel and an electrical generator. The support structure comprises a shaft and supports the elongate member for rotation about a rotation axis. The turbine wheel attached to the elongate member. The electrical generator comprises a rotor and a stator, the rotor being attached to the elongate member and the stator being arranged around the elongate member. The elongate member is provided with a bore and the shaft extends through an end of the elongate member into the bore so as to support it for rotation about the rotation axis.
Swash plate bearing
A swash plate bearing is disclosed. The swash plate bearing may have an arcuate cage member having at least one flange and a plurality of rolling elements rotatably coupled to the at least one flange. A coupling seat extends laterally from the at least one flange, the coupling seat may have an insertion hole. A link member may be rotatably coupled to the cage member, the link member having a central portion positioned between a first terminal portion and a second terminal portion. A first stem connects the central portion to the first terminal portion and a second stem connects the central portion to the second terminal portion. The central portion is positioned in the insertion hole.
BEARING DAMPER WITH EXTERNAL SUPPORT SPRING SYSTEMS AND METHODS
One embodiment describes a bearing damper including a housing; a damper with an annular gap and an internal spring, in which the annular gap is formed between an inner rim and an outer rim of the damper, the internal spring circumferentially bounds the annular gap, the outer rim is coupled to the housing, and the annular gap is configured to be filled with fluid used to dampen vibrations produced on a drive shaft; and an external spring coupled to the housing and to the inner rim, in which the external includes an axial stiffness engineered to externally offset axial forces exerted on the inner rim of the and a radial stiffness engineered to externally offset a first portion of radial forces exerted on the inner rim and to permit a second portion of the radial forces to propagate the vibrations from the drive shaft to the inner rim.
THRUST BEARING FOR VEHICLE AIR COMPRESSOR
A thrust bearing includes: a thrust plate in a disc shape having an outer diameter and an inner diameter formed by perforating a central portion of the thrust plate; a plurality of bump foils disposed radially on a top surface of the thrust plate; a plurality of top foils in a panel shape covering each of the bump foils, where bottom surfaces of the top foils are in contact with upper ends of the bump foils; and metal blocks radially disposed on the top surface of the thrust plate and formed to be spaced apart from the bump foils. The thrust bearing can be included in an air compressor of a vehicle.
