A valve body with conduits on opposing sides having attachable pressure cover-plates and valve servicing assemblies that can be selectively installed onto the valve body while it is fully pressurized. The valve body includes simple isolators that allow access openings to be blocked and exposed that allow various style operating mechanisms and tools without the need for intermediate isolating mechanisms. Attachable subcomponents can provide pressurized fluid that is injected into the valve body from an external power source to move sand and debris away from seating surfaces while advancing and retracting various style gates.

A method of cutting and removing a section of prestressed concrete cylinder pipe and then installing a replacement valve while the pipeline is fully pressurized uses a replacement valve body with two cylinders that match the openings of the cut pipe. Inside each of the two cylinders is a cut-covering assembly which includes a cylindrical elastomeric seal and a mechanical linkage to move the seal in and out of the cut pipe. The replacement valve body further includes a rotatable valve in a central portion of the valve, and when the cylinder ends of the replacement valve body are positioned adjacent the bores of cut pipe ends, the valve can be rotated to move linkage assemblies that control the elastomeric seals in and out of each of the cut-covering assemblies into the bores of the cut pipe ends, thereby covering gaps created when the pipe was cut and placing the pipe ends in fluid-tight engagement with the replacement valve body.

Valve with removable seat

A valve has a housing defining an inlet and an outlet and a cavity therebetween which receives a valve seat. The valve seat defines a slot which receives a gate. The valve seat is sealingly engaged with the housing, the gate sealingly engages the valve seat and is movable within the slot between an open and a closed position using an actuator. An opening in the housing provides access to the cavity. The valve seat may be removed from the housing through the opening by attaching the valve seat to the gate, thereby attaching the valve seat to the actuator, and withdrawing the gate from the housing using the actuator.

A valve has a housing defining an inlet and an outlet and a cavity therebetween which receives a valve seat. The valve seat defines a slot which receives a gate. The valve seat is sealingly engaged with the housing, the gate sealingly engages the valve seat and is movable within the slot between an open and a closed position using an actuator. The valve seat may be removed from the housing through the opening by attaching the valve seat to the gate, thereby attaching the valve seat to the actuator, and withdrawing the gate from the housing using the actuator.

The replacement valve body (22) further includes a rotatable valve (24) in a central portion of the valve, and when the cylinder ends of the replacement valve body (22) are positioned adjacent the bores of cut pipe ends (36), the valve (24) can be rotated to push the elastomeric seals (26) of each of the cut-covering assemblies (62) into the bores of the cut pipe ends (36), thereby covering gaps (77) created when the pipe (35) was cut and placing the pipe ends (36) in fluid-tight engagement with the replacement valve body (22).
