Lighting film, window glass, roll screen, and lighting louver
A lighting film which includes a base member having optical transparency, a plurality of protrusions having optical transparency, which are formed to be adjacent to each other on one surface of the base member, and a gap portion formed between the protrusions, in which an area of an end surface of the protrusion on a base member side is greater than an area of an end surface of the protrusion on a side opposite to the base member, and a ratio s/w of an interval s of two adjacent protrusions among the plurality of protrusions to a width w of the protrusion is equal to or less than 0.1.
High efficiency daylighting structure
A high efficiency daylight directing structure for application on fenestration deploys closely spaced macroscopic bars of transparent resin to eliminate different forms of glare. The spaced apart surfaces provide for efficient reflection of selective incident light, by TIR or metallic surfaces, via the ultra-smooth native surfaces from a mold or casting process. A close spacing is readily obtained in various attachment methods to boost efficiency. The fabrication method allows selective deposition of absorbing layers, such as by of painting/printing between alternating native optical surface to provide one way transparency at high angles of incidence. The bars are supported on at least one common planar surface by transparent support member with an optical quality adhesive material filling any imperfection in the bars common planar surface that form in fabrication.
DAYLIGHTING APPARATUS
A daylighting apparatus of the present invention includes: a daylighting sheet (13) that has first and second surfaces opposite to each other and that lets light in through the first surface and lets the light out through the second surface at a predetermined distribution of angles; and a visible light-reflecting sheet (15) that reflects part of visible light falling on the first surface of the daylighting sheet (13).
LIGHT REDIRECTING FILM CONSTRUCTIONS AND METHODS OF MAKING SAME
Articles and methods of making light redirecting film constructions including a micro structured optical film bonded in selected areas to another film, and including a diffuser are described. The diffuser has an optical haze in the range of (20) to (85) percent and an optical clarity of no greater than (50) percent. The diffuser may be a surface diffuser and may be an asymmetric surface diffuser.
OPTICAL STRUCTURES FOR REDIRECTING DAYLIGHT
Window glass having sun-facing daylight redirecting optical structures with an embedded surface diffuser patterned on them. The optical structures are generally linear and formed from a repeating unit cell. Each unit cell has a base, two or more peaks opposite the base, and at least one curved side between the base and the peaks. The other sides between the base and the peaks can be substantially straight, curved, or a series of facets approximating a curve.
Devices for modulation of temperature and light based on phase change materials
Devices that incorporate phase change materials in containment vessels promote conduction of thermal energy between the phase change materials within the containment vessels and the surrounding air. In some embodiments, the containment vessels are transparent to enable visual awareness of the operation and functionality of the PCMs. In some embodiments, the containment vessels are design to passively promote air flow across the surfaces of the containment vessels. In some embodiments, the containment vessels include embedded structures to promote the conduction of thermal energy to and from the interior of the containment vessel. In some of these embodiments, the intent is to target the location of crystal ‘seeds’ and control crystal growth, thus gaining greater control over thermal transfer.
Light fixture with photosensor-activated adjustable louver assembly
A light fixture delivers light to an illuminated space. The light fixture includes a housing that defines a skylight aperture therethrough, and movable louver blades coupled within and spanning the skylight aperture. Open, the louver blades do not substantially block light through the skylight aperture; closed, the louver blades block substantially all light through the skylight aperture. In intermediate positions, the louver blades block a portion of light through the skylight aperture. The light fixture also includes a dimmable artificial light source, integrated with the housing and configured to project light toward the illuminated space; a light sensor; and a control unit that is integrated with the housing and communicatively coupled with the light sensor. The control unit receives a signal from the sensor, and controls position of the louver blades and brightness of the artificial light source, in response to at least the signal from the light sensor.

Louvered light re-directing structure
Generally plano rectangular louvers are capable of being ganged in a stacked tiltable array to enhance light re-direction when titled to follow the solar elevation. Combinations of features and optical characteristic avoid optical artifacts and enhance efficiency of light utilization and manufacturing. Different louvers can be combined in alternative ways in such arrays.
