The high-zirconia electrocast refractory contains 96.7 to 98.5 mass % of ZrO.sub.2, 0.8 to 2.7 mass % of SiO.sub.2, 0 to 0.2 mass % of Na.sub.2O, 0.21 to 1 mass % of K.sub.2O, 0.1 to 0.4 mass % of Al.sub.2O.sub.3, and does not substantially contain B.sub.2O.sub.3, in terms of oxide, as a chemical composition, wherein contents of the Na.sub.2O and the K.sub.2O satisfy a relation of following Formula (1)
0.15 mass %C.sub.K2O/2+C.sub.Na2O0.6 mass %(1)
where C.sub.K2O is the content of K.sub.2O and C.sub.Na2O is the content of Na.sub.2O, and each of the contents is expressed by mass % in the refractory.
FLUID COOLED HOUSING SYSTEM FOR INSTRUMENTS OF A METAL MAKING FURNACE
A fluid cooled housing system for use in metal making furnaces. In particular, the present invention related to a novel and inventive housing and guard member configured to receive and protect an implement, such as a burner or a lance, used in connection with metal making furnaces. A preferred embodiment of the present invention comprises a housing comprising an outer shell and an inner shell that define a fluid chamber, an end cap, a bushing insert, a face plate, a fluid inlet, and a fluid outlet. Both the fluid inlet and the fluid outlet are preferably in fluid communication with both the fluid chamber defined by the shells and a fluid chamber defined by the bushing insert. In alternative preferred embodiments, the housing system further comprises a guard member that preferably envelopes and further protects the fluid cooled housing.
Oven insulation arrangement
An analytical device has an oven arrangement (1) with an oven (2), an insulation system, a ventilation system and a housing. The ventilation system has a first convection system that uses natural convection, arranged to keep the housing cool, as well as a second convection system that uses forced convection, arranged to reduce the temperature in the oven (2). In particular, the analytical device is a component of a Karl Fischer titration instrument.
Magnesia carbon brick and production method therefor
Provided are a magnesia carbon brick which does not include graphite yet has excellent spalling and corrosion resistances, and a method for producing thereof. The brick is obtained by adding an organic binder to a refractory raw material mixture followed by kneading, molding, and heat-treating, wherein the mixture includes total 0.1 to 2.0 mass % of pitch and/or carbon black, total 0.1 to 1.0 mass % of aluminum and/or aluminum alloy, 3.0 to 10.0 mass % of magnesia having particle diameter of less than 0.075 mm, and 87.0 to 96.0 mass % of magnesia having particle diameter of 0.075 to 5 mm; and a mass ratio of magnesia having particle diameter of 1 to 5 mm to that of 0.075 to 1 mm is 1.66 to 2.34; graphite is not included therein; and an apparent porosity thereof after heat-treatment under reductive atmosphere at 1400 C. for 3 hours is 8.0% or less.
