Production of iron
A process for direct reduction of iron ore in a solid state includes exposing briquettes of iron ore fragments and biomass to electromagnetic energy under anoxic conditions and generating heat within iron ore in the briquettes. The iron ore is reduced in a solid state within the briquettes, and the biomass provides a source of reductant.
Coupling and rotor shaft for molten metal devices
A coupling has an opening and a protrusion extending downward from the opening. The protrusion has threads that are preferably positioned outside of the opening. A rotor shaft that connects to the coupling has an internal bore with threads that receives and retains the protrusion, such as by a threaded connection between the two, so the protrusion applies driving force to the shaft.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR THREADING A HOT COIL ON A MILL
Systems and methods of threading a metal substrate on a rolling mill include receiving a coil of the metal substrate. The method also includes uncoiling the metal substrate from the coil while the coil and guiding the metal substrate to a work stand of the rolling mill with a threading system.
High frequency heating apparatus
A high frequency heating apparatus which heats a substrate by applying high frequency waves thereto. The high frequency heating apparatus includes a high frequency generator which generates high frequency to heat the substrate. The distance from the substrate to the high frequency generator is n/2*, where n is a natural number ranging from 1 to 6, and is the wavelength of the high frequency that is generated by the high frequency generator.
Plasma and oxygas fired furnace
The present disclosure concerns an apparatus suitable for smelting and separating metals in flexible oxido-reduction conditions. More particularly, it concerns an apparatus for smelting metallurgical charges comprising a bath furnace susceptible to contain a molten charge up to a determined level, characterized in that the furnace is equipped with: at least one non-transfer plasma torch for the generation of first hot gases; at least one oxygas burner for the generation of second hot gasses; and, submerged injectors for injecting said first and second hot gases below said determined level.
METAL MELTING AND HOLDING FURNACE
A metal melting and retention furnace is provided, wherein a tubular member in a furnace chamber, a table-like melting part is formed directly below the tubular member and a melting burner is arranged in the furnace chamber, a molten metal retention part in which the melting material which has been melted is introduced and which is provided with a retention burner for heating the introduced molten metal is formed around the outer circumference of the table-like melting part, and the molten metal in the molten metal retention part flows to a molten metal ladle part adjacent to the furnace chamber.
Method and arrangement for feeding fine-grained matter to a concentrate or matte burner of a suspension smelting furnace
The invention relates to a method and to an arrangement for feeding fine-grained matter to a concentrate or matte burner (1) of a suspension smelting furnace (2). The arrangement comprising a fluidization arrangement (3) for feeding fluidized fine-grained matter into a dosing bin (4), and a conveyor means (6) for feeding fluidized fine-grained matter from the dosing bin (4) to the concentrate or matte burner (1) of the suspension smelting furnace (2), and a loss-in-weight controller (5) between the dosing bin (4) and the conveyor means (6). The arrangement comprises an impact cone (8) arranged below a filling valve (7) between the fluidization arrangement (3) and the dosing bin (4) for distributing fluidized fine-grained matter flowing from the fluidization arrangement (3) within the dosing bin (4).
System and method for an electrode seal assembly
A sealing system for isolating the environment inside a vitrification container from the outside environment comprises a vitrification container with a lid. The lid comprises two or more electrode seal assemblies through which two or more electrodes may be operatively positioned and extend down through the lid into the vitrification container. The electrodes may move axially up and down through the electrode seal assemblies or lock into place. The electrode seal assemblies each comprise a housing having two halves with recessed ring grooves. Sealing rings with a split may be placed into the grooves. Gas galleries may be machined or cast into the housing such that they are adjacent to the ring grooves. The gas galleries distribute gas onto the external faces of the sealing rings causing a change in pressure resulting in the sealing rings compressing onto the electrodes and forming a seal.
Apparatus for heating plastic preforms by means of microwaves
An apparatus is provided for heating plastic preforms, having a plurality of resonator units, into which in each case plastic preforms can be introduced in order to heat the latter, having at least one microwave generating unit for generating microwaves, and having a feed device for feeding to at least one resonator unit the microwaves generated by the microwave generating unit, and having at least one rectifier unit for providing a rectified voltage. Further, at least one rectifier unit provides voltage for operating at least two resonator units.
