Determining fluid flow characteristics of porous mediums

Techniques including methods, apparatus and computer program products are disclosed. These techniques include computer instructions that are encoded on computer storage media for determining wettability. The techniques use a numerical aging computation process to provide a representation of a wettability alteration of a physical rock sample in the presence of at least two fluids is disclosed. The techniques include retrieving a representation of a physical rock sample, the representation including pore space and grain space data corresponding to the physical rock sample, calculating local curvature for each surface in the pore space, determining from the calculated local curvature whether water-film breakage will occur, and classifying the wettability of the physical rock based on the determination of water-film breakage.

A reusable urinary intermittent catheter comprising: a catheter tube; a funnel connected to the catheter tube; and one or more near-field communication (NFC) tags embedded in the catheter that contain authentication information and validate the authentication information and usage information. The catheter tube may be configured to be inserted into a male or female urethral tract to facilitate drainage of urine from a bladder into a receptacle. The funnel may be curved to facilitate a flow of urine through the catheter tube and slow the flow of the urine exiting the funnel while minimizing splashing of the urine and reducing material strain on the catheter tube when stored with an insertion aid.

XRF ANALYZER WITH IMPROVED RESOLUTION BY USING MICRO-RESET
20220342090 · 2022-10-27 ·

Disclosed is an electronic system for resetting the voltage of a charge-sensitive pre-amplifier having input from an X-ray detector and output to an ADC. The pre-amplifier gain is increased so that the RMS ADC noise is less than 1% of a representative digitized X-ray signal. The reset logic is configured to avoid loss of X-ray counts and to prevent the pre-amplifier output being outside the allowable input range of the ADC. Reset is initiated when the pre-amplifier output rises above an upper level, which is below the maximum allowable ADC input. Reset is also initiated when a pile-up event is detected, provided that such reset will not cause the pre-amplifier output to fall below the minimum allowable ADC input. At each reset a known amount of charge is removed from the pre-amplifier, and the reset time is continuously adjusted to ensure that the charge amount does not drift.

Kneading device with a detection unit detecting a dispersion degree

A kneading device for dispersing a dispersoid in a dispersion medium includes a casing in which a kneading material containing the dispersion medium and the dispersoid is accommodated, a rotor disposed in the casing and kneading the kneading material while dispersing the dispersoid in the dispersion medium by rotating about a rotation axis, and a detection unit detecting a dispersion degree of the dispersoid in the dispersion medium by observing a state of the kneading material in the casing.

Method of assessing damage to composite members
11402291 · 2022-08-02 · ·

A method of assessing damage to a composite member requires the formation of a composite member comprising at least one cavity. A first pressure differential is then established between the cavity and the surrounding ambient pressure. The rate of change of the pressure differential over a first predetermined period is monitored and then the pressure differential is allowed to subside. The result of the monitoring step is stored as a reference value, so that after the composite member is damaged, or after it has been in service for a predetermined time, the test can be repeated and compared with the reference value. If the result of the repeated monitoring differs from the reference value by more than a predetermined amount, it is determined that the composite member is defective.

Method for reconstructing incomplete data of X-ray absorption contrast computed tomography based on deep learning

The present invention discloses a method for reconstructing incomplete data of X-ray absorption contrast computed tomography (CT) based on deep learning (DL). The method includes the following steps: using a filtered back projection (FBP) algorithm to obtain an initial reconstructed image; forward projecting the initial reconstructed image to obtain artifact-contaminated complete projection sequences; using a DL technique to process the artifact-contaminated projection sequences to obtain artifact-free projection sequences; using the FBP algorithm to reconstruct the artifact-free projection sequences to obtain a final reconstructed image. Compared with the traditional incomplete data reconstruction methods, the examples of the present invention feature a simpler calculation process, fewer parameters to be manually set, a faster calculation speed and higher image quality.
