Chemical and biochemical adducts as biomarkers for organophosphate exposure
The present disclosure provides organophosphorous (OP) compounds of Formula (I), Formula (II) and Formula (III):
OP-Peptide-Linker-CP(I),
OP-Peptide-Linker(II); and ##STR00001## wherein OP is ##STR00002##
including that structure corresponding to a reactive organophosphorous reagent, nerve agent or pesticide, or a pesticide PS to PO metabolite; P is the S.sub.p or R.sub.p stereoisomer; X is oxygen, sulfur, selenium or imino; R and R are as described; Peptide is a sequence of amino acids containing a serine, threonine or tyrosine to which the OP is attached, wherein the total number of amino acids is between 7 and 41; Linker is an amino acid or is derived from another bifunctional reagent capable of covalently attaching an OP-peptide to a CP; and CP is a carrier protein used to display haptens for antibody generation. The disclosure also provides methods for generating monoclonal or polyclonal antibodies specific for an OP-Peptide of a compound of Formula (I) or Formula (II) that can be used to diagnose the presence, identity, and quantity of OP adducts.
Antibody specific for trans-resveratrol and use thereof
The present invention provides a method of detecting or measuring trans-Resveratrol (tRV) in a sample, comprising: contacting a sample to be tested with an antibody against tRV, or an antigen binding fragment of such an antibody; and detecting or measuring any tRV bound by the antibody or antibody fragment. The invention also provides an antibody against trans-Resveratrol.
METHODS FOR DETECTING INDOLE, AN INDOLE PRODUCING BACTERIUM, OR AN INDOLE PRODUCING CHEMICAL
In an example method for detecting indole, an indole producing bacterium, or an indole producing chemical, a polymeric detection tool is exposed to a sample and the polymeric detection tool is monitored for a red color change. The polymeric detection tool includes an acidic and oxygen soluble polymer and a nitrosation agent impregnated in walls of the acidic and oxygen soluble polymer. This example method can be used for detecting an indole producing bacterium in a body fluid sample.
Diagnosis of cancer
A method for the early detection and monitoring of the progression of cancer by detecting breath biomarkers is provided. The method comprises assessing the activity of an aldo-keto reductase by measuring the concentration of an exogenous substrate for said enzyme and/or measuring the concentration of a metabolite of said substrate in exhaled breath of a subject. Preferably, the cancer is lung cancer.
PREPARATION METHOD AND APPLICATION OF FLEXIBLE PAPER-BASED SENSOR FOR DETECTING MEAT PRODUCTS
A flexible paper-based sensor for detecting meat products is provided, which is prepared through steps of mixing a UCNPs-cDNA signal probe with an Apt-MIL-53(Fe)@Cu.sup.2+ capture probe to prepare a detection probe; and dropwise adding the detection probe onto a central area of a paper-based substrate to obtain the flexible paper-based sensor. A method for detecting tetracycline residues in meat products using such sensor is also provided.

Homogeneous enzyme immunoassay for keratinized structures
Methods and kits for determining the presence and/or amount of one or more analytes in a keratinized structure (e.g., hair) sample. Such methods can include combining in an aqueous medium: a conjugate comprising an enzyme and an analyte of interest, an antibody specific for the analyte of interest, and the keratinized structure sample, and then determining whether the analyte of interest is present or absent in the keratinized structure sample.
Maribavir isomers, compositions, methods of making and methods of using
The invention relates to novel compositions and methods of using maribavir which enhance its effectiveness in medical therapy, as well as to maribavir isomers and methods of use thereof for counteracting the potentially adverse effects of maribavir isomerization in vivo in the event it occurs.
Fluorescent indicators for calcium metal ion detection
The present disclosure describes compounds that can be used as Ca.sup.2+ chelators and fluorescent calcium indicators. The compounds incorporate a cyclopentyl group in the calcium binding portion of the Ca.sup.2+ fluorescent indicator. The indicators show substantially improved affinity for calcium ions in intracellular assays compared to other commercially available calcium selective fluorescent indicators.
