A rod is affixed to an external surface of the base and extends upward from the base. A platform is mounted onto the rod. The platform can be adjusted vertically on the rod, so that a user can set a desired distance between the platform and the base.

An outdoor cooking assembly includes a plurality of poles configured to support a cooking grate above an open fire. The grate is connected to the poles by a lockable adjustment mechanism that allows a user to adjust the height of the grate above the fire. The adjustment mechanism includes a plurality of sleeves that may be attached directly to the grate, or to a frame that supports the grate from below, and that are slidable on the support poles. The assembly also includes a releasable locking mechanism for preventing unintentional sliding movement of each sleeve along its pole, a locking tool allowing a user to manipulate the locking mechanism without touching locking mechanism, and a grasping tool allowing the user to reposition the grate without physically contacting the grate.

A portable grilling assembly for cooking outdoors includes a stake that can be driven into the ground. The stake is comprised of a plurality of connectable sections such that the stake has an adjustable length. A grill is provided and the grill is removably coupled to the stake. The grill is slidably positioned on the stake such that the grill is positionable at a selected point along the stake. In this way the grill can be spaced a selected distance from the ground. A basket is removably coupled to the stake and the basket is slidably positioned on the stake such that the basket is positionable at a selected point along the stake. Moreover, the basket is comprised of a fire resistant material to contain a heat source for cooking on the grill.

A portable grill and method of using the same. The portable grill can be stowed in a fully compact state with grill bars, leg members, and tension bars stored within an elongated container formed by frame members of the portable grill. Removable end caps can be snugly attached to end portions of the container to seal the container and help retain the frame member together, the end caps being formed of flexible heat resistant material, and usable as heat mitts. When in a fully assembled state, the grill bars of the portable grill are placed under tension by use of tension bars that are configured to be shorter than the grill bars, and which can retain the frame members at a parallel distance from one another that is less than the length of the grill bars.

Cooking apparatus

A cooking apparatus includes a pair of plates in between which a food item is to be cooked, at least one of the plates having a heating element for cooking the food item. The cooking apparatus has a user interface for selecting a cooking preference, a measurement sensor for measuring a distance between the pair of plates when the food item lies between the pair of plates, a weight sensor for measuring weight of the food item, and a control system for receiving at least one signal from the measurement and weight sensors to determine a cooking profile for cooking the food item to the cooking preference and to calculate a total amount of energy required to cook the food item according to the cooking profile and an amount of energy to be transferred per unit time to the food item, and to control power supply to the heating element based on the calculated amount of energy transferred per unit time to the food item.

Cooking apparatus

A cooking apparatus includes a pair of plates in between which a food item is to be cooked, at least one of the plates having a heating element for cooking the food item. The cooking apparatus has a user interface for selecting a cooking preference, a measurement sensor for measuring a distance between the pair of plates when the food item lies between the pair of plates, a weight sensor for measuring weight of the food item, and a control system for receiving at least one signal from the measurement and weight sensors to determine a cooking profile for cooking the food item to the cooking preference and to calculate a total amount of energy required to cook the food item according to the cooking profile and an amount of energy to be transferred per unit time to the food item, and to control power supply to the heating element based on the calculated amount of energy transferred per unit time to the food item.

Grill with flat top griddle and vertically adjustable swinging accessories

A live-fire grill has been developed with a central opening and one or more adjustable accessories. In one example, the central opening is covered by a central grate to provide a more typical grilling experience. In another example, the central grate is raised to prevent food loss down the central opening. Surrounding the central opening is a griddle with an outer periphery defining a retention ledge. The retention ledge serves as a backstop to prevent food falling off the griddle and onto the ground. Attached to the grill is one or more rods holding one or more adjustable accessories. The accessories automatically lock in position and may be adjusted both horizontally and vertically. In one example, the accessory is an adjustable grate with 360 degrees of rotation.
