SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PAIRING OF FOR-HIRE VEHICLE METERS AND MEDALLIONS
20190213801 · 2019-07-11 ·

Systems and methods for pairing for-hire vehicles with their associated medallion are disclosed. Some for-hire vehicles, such as taxis operate with a for-hire vehicle meter (taximeter). In some embodiments, the meter contains an identifier of a medallion that is associated with the meter. The meter may then determine if it is connected or properly associated with the medallion. If the meter is connected or properly associated with the medallion, it will then access the identification information of the medallion and determine if identification information matches its contained medallion identifier. If the identification information does not match, the meter may shut down and thereafter be non-engageable. The relationship between the medallion and the meter is advantageously used to enforce restrictions on the operation of the for-hire vehicle including, for example, time and location of pick-up restrictions. In other embodiments, meters and medallions communicate their identification and locations to a central server. The central server then compares the locations to determine the distance between the meter and the medallion. If the distance does not satisfy a predetermined range (indicating the meter and the medallion are close together), the central server may generate an alert or it may command the meter to shut down. The central sever may also advantageously be used to enforce restrictions on the operation of the for-hire vehicle. Meters and/or medallions not attached to their assigned medallion and/or meter may also be tracked via the central server.

An indication that a ride associated with an electric vehicle has ended is received. An availability state of the electric vehicle is determined based at least on a current battery charge level of the electric vehicle and a dynamic charge threshold. Information reflecting the availability state of the electric vehicle in a set of geographic location and availability state information of vehicles comprising a fleet of electric vehicles available to be displayed is included via a user interface based at least in part on the respective availability state of the respective electric vehicles comprising the fleet of electric vehicles.

Systems and methods for adjusting premium rate based on usage

A system includes a vehicle system including one or more sensors that to monitor one or more properties related to an operation of a vehicle. The system also includes a processor that receives expected vehicle usage information from an applicant, a database, publicly available sources, or the like and receive a set of data including the one or more properties from the vehicle system. The set of data is associated with the expected vehicle usage information. The processor may then determine a premium base rate based at least in part on the set of data and a risk associated with the applicant and determine a vehicle rate based at least in part on the set of data and a risk associated with the vehicle. The processor may then display a visualization including the premium base rate and the vehicle rate on a display.

MACHINE-VISION-BASED ELECTRONIC AUTOMOBILE INSURANCE FEE METER
20180276760 · 2018-09-27 ·

The present invention provides a machine-vision-based electronic automobile insurance fee meter. The machine-vision-based electronic automobile insurance fee meter can capture a lane departure behavior, and record a distance and duration of a lane departure in a memory module; also can capture a following-too-close behavior, and record a distance and duration of dangerous following in the memory module; and also can calculate a journey-based mileage insurance fee, a total mileage insurance fee P being a product of a mileage L of a journey, a unit mileage (per kilometer) insurance rate R.sub.km and a safety floating factor f. The present technical solution charges the insurance fee according to the actual driving mileage, makes the charging of the insurance fee fairer and more reasonable, and encourages safe driving and driving less; and also can identify the most important dangerous driving risks including following-too-close and lane departure, making the pricing of the insurance fee more accurate and reasonable.

Tamper evident system for modification and distribution of secured vehicle operating parameters

Systems and methods of securing, distribution and enforcing for-hire vehicle operating parameters are described whereby a first computer system maintaining the parameters generates a data packet that is distributed to a second computer system which acts as a meter (such as a taximeter, limousine meter or shuttle meter) for the for-hire vehicle. The first computer system may secure or encrypt the data packet according to a security protocol associated with the second computer system. Once the second computer system receives the data packet, it may validate and extract the operating parameters contained within it. The second computer system may then store the operating parameters and operate according to the parameters by, for example, calculating fares for passengers that make use of the for-hire vehicle associated with the second computer system. The second computer system may include a secure segment that is attached to the for-hire vehicle and a non-secure segment that may be easily removed to prevent theft or for repairs.
