Letter manipulative identification board
A set of letter manipulatives and a board on which said letter manipulatives may be placed, where the board comprises an identification module that can identify the letter manipulatives placed on the board and communicate the identification to a computing device.
Interactive multisensory learning process and tutorial device
Disclosed is a computer-based multisensory tutorial that collects vocal data and tactile input data from a user related to a target presented by a GUI, the target comprising a phoneme, grapheme, letter, word; determines if the collected data exceeds or fails to meet a threshold value associated with the target; and provides a correction prompt visible or audible to a user if the input does not meet the threshold. A typical user of the tutorial may be a student (child or adult) in an educational setting, but use is not intended to be limited thereto. The multisensory tutorial may be configured for a plurality of languages. A multisensory tutorial configured device comprises one or more tutorial software modules, a GUI lesson screen, and a plurality of integrated lessons based on an Ortin-Gillingham plus program (for example one chosen between lessons 20 and 50), but is not limited thereto.
Systems and methods for enhanced closed captioning commands
A system and method for generating enhanced closed captioning commands are described. A video having multiple frames is received in a content building environment. Along with the video, user input defining an appearance and a location of text to be displayed is received. The appearance and the location of text correspond to one or more of the frames of the video. The appearance and the location of text are synchronized with each of the frames of the video. A design packet is generated based on the received user input. A delivery packet is generated that includes the design packet, the video, a video timecode, a text timecode, and enhanced closed captioning commands. The delivery packet is provided to a user device for playback.
Symbol Manipulation Educational System and Method
A system for teaching is disclosed, comprising a symbol identification dock and a plurality of symbol manipulatives, a computing device connected to the symbol identification dock, and a database, wherein the database comprises lexical data and an adaptive learning curriculum.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MULTIMODAL BOOK READING
Systems and methods to process reading articles for a multimodal book application are disclosed. Exemplary implementations may: identify a title of a reading article; store the title of the reading article in a database; scan two or more pages of the reading and generating text representing content of the reading article; analyze the generated text to identify characteristics of the reading article; store the identified characteristics in the database; associate the identified characteristics with the reading article title; generate augmented content files for one or more portions of the reading article based at least in part on the identified characteristics, and; and store the augmented content files in the database and associating the augmented content files with different portions of the reading article.
SET OF BOOKS FOR USE IN A CLASSROOM HAVING STUDENTS READING AT DIFFERENT GRADE LEVELS AND RELATED TEACHING METHOD
A set of books for use in a classroom having students reading at different grade levels. The set of books includes an original text novel edition printed in physical book form having a cover, numbered chapters and numbered pages each having a page layout and a first modified text version of the original text novel edition written at a first lower grade level reading range than the original text novel edition. The original and modified text editions are printed in physical book form having substantially the same size, cover, page layout and page numbering. The set of books can be marked with a subtle indicator enabling the teacher to identify the reading level of each book without providing noticeable indication of reading level to students in the class. A method of teaching language arts using the set books is also disclosed.
Peripheral device identification system and method
A system and method for dynamically identifying an accessory or other peripheral device to be wirelessly paired with a tablet computer or other primary device, wherein the accessory comprises a display screen that displays a quick response (QR) code when the accessory is not paired, and after the QR code is scanned by the tablet computer, which is then wirelessly paired with the accessory, the QR code is replaced on the display screen with an image associated with the user, such as a picture of the user, the users name, or other means of associating the accessory with the user.

SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROTOCOL FOR ANIMATED READ ALONG TEXT
A system and method for displaying emphasized text are described. A line of text having multiple words is displayed successively emphasized at the pace of human speech. Each of the words is displayed in a first state. The emphasized word is then displayed in a second state as having an outline. Next, the emphasized word is displayed in a third state as heavier-weighted text. Finally, the emphasized word is displayed in a fourth state as regular text. The words are visually emphasized one at a time such that a first word is displayed in the third state when a second word is displayed in the second state and the first word is displayed from the third state to the fourth state when the second word is displayed from the second state to the third state and a third word is displayed in the second state.
System and User Interfaces for Monitoring Reading Performance and Providing Reading Assistance
A system and user interfaces for monitoring reading performance and providing reading assistance is presented. The user interface for a reader application comprises a user identifier uniquely identifying a user, a listing of a group of monitored reading performance metrics for the uniquely identified user, and a user-selectable list of one or more reading assistance processes. Selecting an item from the list launches the respective reading assistance process.
