Musical instrument combining sound characteristics of a guitar and banjo
10885885 · 2021-01-05 · ·

The invention provides a stringed musical instrument comprising a guitar-type hollow body, a neck joined to the hollow body, and a banjo-type pot comprising a rim, a head and a tension hoop, positioned within a first interior chamber within the hollow body. The rim and head define a second interior chamber within the banjo-type pot. The banjo-type pot is affixed to a back surface of the hollow body such that the head of the banjo-type pot is proximal to a front surface of the hollow body and distal to the back surface of the hollow body. The banjo-type pot is positioned within the first interior chamber to form a path for sound waves generated by the head to travel from a second interior chamber within the banjo-type pot through the first interior chamber and out of at least one opening provided on the front surface of the hollow body.

Guitar neck assembly
10847124 · 2020-11-24 ·

A musical instrument neck assembly includes a neck body with a top portion and a tail portion. A finger board is located adjacent the top portion. A plurality of strings are strung the length of the neck body extending from a head at the top portion and coupled to the bottom end of the neck body at the tail portion. The assembly includes a bridge and a hollowed body. Both are separate from the anchors of the plurality of strings. The bridge is nestled below the finger board and rests directly on the hollowed body. The hollow body and the bridge rest on top of the neck body and are made of a material of suitable strength and acoustic properties to support the lateral tension forces of the plurality of strings spanning from the top portion of the neck body to the tail portion of the neck body.

Humidifier

One embodiment of a humidifier designed to supplement humidity for the purpose of maintaining the moisture content of a wooden instrument such as a guitar. The humidifier comprises of an absorbent material, contained within an expandable outer shell, sealed at both ends. The shell is made from a non-permeable material but is constructed to be permeable. The humidifier is hydrated by submerging it in water, resulting in the absorption of liquid, causing expansion of the absorbent core and consequently expansion of the outer shell. Once hydrated, the outer shell is dried, and then, in the case of a hollow bodied instrument, is placed inside the body, or alternatively, and in the case of a solid bodied instrument, is placed in proximity to the instrument in a case or other enclosure. The shell allows the efficient egress of water vapor while isolating the instrument from liquid sequestered by the absorbent within.
