The maintenance mat has a neck support cushion having a having a centrally located indent on the topside adapted to receive the neck of a stringed instrument. The neck support is attached at the proximal end of the mat to the bottom side of said neck support. Closures are attached to the distal end of the mat. The mat is adapted to roll around said neck support and be removably secured by the closure.

A stringed instrument pickup and feedback system, comprising a sound pickup device disposed on a string instrument. The sound pickup device comprises a transducer and at least one pickup, a sound processing circuit and a power supply. The pickup activates the transducer to realize resonance enhancement on the instrument body. The transducer is disposed on the string instrument unrestricted by internal bracing. The instrument can be any of pickup, guitar, ukulele, violin, Guqin, Guzheng and Mandolin. The present invention enables the construction of stringed instrument to add vibration and amplify sound of a stringed instrument using the transducer and thus reduce the dependence on rare woods in manufacturing these instruments.

An article for retaining an object against a musical instrument including a mat of a material that extends from a first surface to a second surface. The first surface contacts a contoured surface of the musical instrument and the second surface contacting the object. The mat flexes to match the contoured surface of the musical instrument. The static coefficient of friction of the first surface is greater than the static coefficient of friction of the contoured surface of the musical instrument. As a result, the mat removably retains the object on the contoured surface of the musical instrument.
