Power architecture design for thermal management of battery backup energy storage
Thermal management of a backup battery unit for datacenter applications is described. In one embodiment, a backup battery unit includes one or more battery cells immersed in cooling liquid contained in an immersion tank. The immersion tank includes a temperature sensor. The battery unit also includes a first direct-current to-direct-current (DC/DC) converter electronically coupled to the battery cells and to an external power source for converting and controlling a charging voltage obtained from the external power source to charge the battery cells. The backup battery unit also includes a cooling-liquid pump for driving cooling liquid to the battery cells. The backup battery unit also includes a microcontroller coupled to the temperature sensor, the first DC/DC converter, and the cooling-liquid pump. The microcontroller is configured to control operations of the cooling-liquid pump based on temperature data obtained from the temperature sensor and an electrical current of the first DC/DC converter.

Provided is a casing for a lithium metal secondary battery including: a battery casing material; at least one releasable capsule attached at least partially or totally to the inner surface of the casing material to cover the inner surface of the casing material; and a release solution supported in the releasable capsule, wherein the releasable capsule includes a capsule coating film and a capsule inner space surrounded with the capsule coating film, the release solution is supported in the capsule inner space, and the release solution includes a release agent and a solvent. A lithium metal secondary battery including the casing and a method for manufacturing the same are also provided. It is possible to increase releasability of the negative electrode in a lithium metal secondary battery and to improve nail safety by using the releasable capsule according to the present disclosure.

A battery pack according to an embodiment includes a case in which a plurality of battery cells are accommodated, and a battery management system (BMS) for detecting damage to the case, wherein the BMS includes a voltage output terminal for outputting a predetermined voltage, a ground terminal, and a voltage measurement terminal for measuring voltage, wherein the case includes a conductive member having a first end connected to the voltage output terminal of the BMS and a second end connected to the ground terminal of the BMS, and a sensing wire having a first end connected to the conductive member and a second end connected to a voltage measurement terminal of the BMS, the conductive member being provided between one surface inside the case and the other surface opposite to the one surface.
