A laser irradiation apparatus including a laser light source includes a first detection unit and a second detection unit configured to detect luminance of a substrate irradiated with laser light from the laser light source, and a control unit configured to perform control related to laser light emitted from the laser light source, in which the control unit specifies an energy density of laser light based on luminance detected by the first detection unit, specifies reference luminance based on a specified energy density and luminance detected by the second detection unit, and changes an energy density of laser light according to the reference luminance and luminance detected by the second detection unit.
Integrated light transmission/reception optical system module and scanning lidar having same
In one embodiment, an integrated light transmission/reception optical system module includes a light receiving lens, a light source, and a light transmitting mirror. The light receiving lens receives light, concentrates the received light on a light detector disposed at a rear position, and has an optical path groove formed to be directed from a circumference to a central portion and formed to expose a front side. The light source outputs a pulse laser along the optical path groove from the circumference of the light receiving lens toward the central portion of the light receiving lens. The light transmitting mirror is disposed within the optical path groove, is located on a path of the pulse laser, and reflects in a front direction the pulse laser outputted from the light source. Other embodiments are also possible.
LASER LIGHT SOURCE, WAVELENGTH CONVERSION LIGHT SOURCE, LIGHT COMBINING LIGHT SOURCE, AND PROJECTION SYSTEM
A laser light source (300), a wavelength conversion light source, a light combining light source, and a projection system. The laser light source comprises a laser element array, a focusing optical element (33), a collimation optical element (34), an integrator rod (36) for receiving and homogenizing a secondary laser beam array (382), an angular distribution control element (35) disposed on the light path between the laser element array and the integrator rod (36) for enlarging the divergence angle of the laser beam array (382) in the direction of the short axis of the light distribution, such that the rate between the divergence angle of each of the secondary laser beam that enters the integrator rod (36) in the direction of the short axis of the light distribution and the divergence angle in the direction of the long axis is greater than or equal to 0.7.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR USE IN LASER SHOCK PEENING
An apparatus may include a diode-pumped solid-state laser oscillator configured to output a pulsed laser beam, a modulator configured to modify an energy and a temporal profile of the pulsed laser beam, and an amplifier configured to amplify an energy of the pulse laser beam. A modified and amplified beam to laser peen a target part may have an energy of about 5J to about 10 J, an average power (defined as energy (J) x frequency (Hz)) of from about 25 W to about 200 W, with a flattop beam uniformity of less than about 0.2. The diode-pumped solid-state oscillator may be configured to output a beam having both a single longitudinal mode and a single transverse mode, and to produce and output beams at a frequency of about 20 Hz.

Apparatus and methods for altering one or more spectral, spatial, or temporal characteristics of a light-emitting device are disclosed. Generally, such apparatus may include a volume Bragg grating (VBG) element that receives input light generated by a light-emitting device, conditions one or more characteristics of the input light, and causes the light-emitting device to generate light having the one or more characteristics of the conditioned light.

DEVICE FOR TRANSPORTING AND CONTROLLING LIGHT PULSES FOR LENSLESS ENDO-MICROSCOPIC IMAGING
According to one aspect, the invention concerns a device for transporting and controlling light pulses for lensless endo-microscopic imaging and comprises: a bundle of N monomode optical fibers (F.sub.1) arranged in a given pattern, each monomode optical fiber being characterized by a relative group delay value (Ax) defined relative to the travel time of a pulse propagating in a reference monomode optical fiber (F.sub.0) of the bundle of fibers (40), an optical device for controlling group velocity (50) comprising a given number M of waveplates (P.sub.j) characterized by a given delay (8t.sub.j); a first spatial light modulator (51) suitable for forming from an incident light beam a number N of elementary light beams (B.sub.i) each of which is intended to enter into one of said optical fibers, each elementary beam being intended to pass into a given waveplate such that the sum of the delay introduced by said waveplate and the relative group delay of the optical fiber intended to receive said elementary light beam is minimal in absolute value; a second spatial light modulator (52) suitable for deviating each of the N elementary light beams such that each elementary light beam penetrates into the corresponding optical fiber perpendicularly to the entrance face of the optical fiber.
LINE BEAM FORMING DEVICE
Provided is a line beam forming device that can divide a laser beam into beam segments in a first direction (y-axis) perpendicular to the traveling direction (z-axis) of the laser beam, and arrange and emit the beam segments with regular intervals in a second direction (x-axis) perpendicular to the traveling direction of the laser beam, using a single mirror set composed of a plurality of mirrors. The line beam forming device of the present invention can be used for an excimer laser which is a multimode laser beam generator with high beam divergence, a high-power DPSS laser, or a laser diode, can obtain high-density energy by condensing beams, can obtain a beam profile having uniform intensity in both of a long axis and a short axis, and can combine a plurality of laser beams without being influenced by the properties of an incident beam.
MICROFLUIDIC LASER-ACTIVATED INTRACELLULAR DELIVERY SYSTEMS AND METHODS
An intracellular delivery system and method are provided. The intracellular delivery system comprises a laser-activated surface and cells positioned at a distance from the laser-activated surface. A laser provided a laser pulse that is used to porate membranes of the cells to deliver or extract cargo from the cells into a liquid surrounding the cells. The method of intracellular delivery comprises positioning a laser-activated surface at a distance from cells and applying a laser pulse from the laser to the surface to porate membranes of the cells to deliver or extract cargo from the cells into a liquid surrounding the cells.
