PORTABLE NEGATIVE-PRESSURE MEDICAL AND DENTAL ISOLATION CHAMBER AND PROCEDURES OF USE
A portable negative air pressure apparatus for isolating a treatment subject to permit a selected treatment procedure to be performed by a treatment operator. The apparatus comprises an air source connected to a closed chamber for sealable disposition over the head, neck and upper thorax of the treatment subject with the chamber having air ports, in and out. The chamber has rigid clear sides and a plurality of sealed ports, with the ports including sealed armholes for access, and with sealed gloves connected to the sealed armholes. The chamber also has at least one instrument hatch to permit introduction into the chamber of instruments for carrying-out the selected treatment procedure.
Patient airway dome and methods of making and using same
A patient airway dome including an adjustable frame having a hinge such that the hinge allows the frame to adjust between an erected position to create an airway dome and a collapsed position that allows the frame to lay flat, a dome covering located over the retractable frame, a suction port which is connected to a conventional device in order to provide negative pressure to patient airway dome, and an arm access assembly operatively connected to the dome covering, wherein the arm access assembly includes an opening in the dome covering and a closure assembly located adjacent to the opening.
Anatomically Adaptable Headrest Apparatus
The present disclosure provides a headrest for therapeutic environments which is able to adapt and conform to the individual anatomic shape of a patient's head to provide firm support in a desired position for the duration of a therapy session, and which is able to maintain that shape to provide consistent positioning of a patient's head across multiple sessions. The headrest comprises an adjustable support element coupled to a headrest shell, with a headrest cushion being affixed to the shell that can conform to the shape of the patient's head and neck. The cushion is either a vacuum cushion or formed of a memory material, such that the deformation caused by supporting the patient can be reproduced if necessary.
PATIENT SUPPORT APPARATUS
The present application relates to a patient support apparatus for a radiotherapy device. The patient support apparatus comprises a support surface and abase. The patient support apparatus also comprises a first connection assembly connecting the surface and the base, the first connection assembly being connected to the surface at a first connection point, wherein the first connection assembly is coupled to a first driving mechanism configured to effect translation of the first connection point in a substantially vertical direction. The patient support apparatus also comprises a second connection assembly connecting the surface and the base, the second connection assembly being connected to the surface at a second connection point, wherein the second connection assembly is coupled to a second driving mechanism configured to effect translation of the second connection point in the substantially vertical direction. The patient support apparatus also comprises a third connection assembly connecting the surface and the base, the third connection assembly being connected to the surface at a third connection point, wherein the third connection assembly is coupled to a third driving mechanism configured to effect translation of the third connection point in the substantially vertical direction, wherein the third connection assembly further comprises a pivot joint at the third connection point configured to enable relative rotation between the surface and the base. The first, second and third driving mechanisms are configured to be independently driven to provide rotation and vertical translation of the surface with respect to the base.
Wheelchair system with motion sensors and neural stimulation
A system and method for improving stability of a wheelchair user includes a wheelchair having sensors measuring motion parameters to sense collisions and sharp turns which may unseat the user. Neuromuscular stimulating electrodes attached to extensor and flexor muscles of the user's trunk and under the command of a controller in communication with the sensors activate the muscles during turns and collisions to counteract the forces induced. A system and method for increasing manual propulsion efficiency includes sensors for sensing motion parameters indicating completion of a manual push of the wheelchair wheels and recovery from the push. Neuromuscular stimulating electrodes attached to extensor and flexor muscles of the user's trunk and under the command of a controller in communication with the sensors activate the muscles at the appropriate time in the cycle of push and recovery.
Surgical draping system and method
A surgical drape includes a seal connectable with a selected surface of a body disposed with a surgical table. A draping is connected with the seal and a track of the surgical table. The draping is movable relative to the seal to define a sterile region about the body. Surgical instruments, systems and methods are disclosed.
Autonomus and user-input reconfigurable proning bed and method for reconfiguring proning bed in the treatment of acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)
There is provided a reconfigurable autonomous and user-input proning bed. The proning bed includes controllers and at least one of: a head position system (HPS) to detect a position of the head of the patient configurable and reconfigurable to be automatically positioned; an arms position system (APS) to detect the presence of the arms of the patient and change a level and inclination of APS upper sections and APS lower sections; a legs position system (LPS) to detect the presence of the legs of the patient and change a level and inclination of LPS upper sections and LPS lower sections; and a body position system (BPS) to detect the presence of the torso of the patient and change a level and inclination of a BPS upper section and a BPS lower section. The proning bed can include an integrated entertainment position system and side rail position system.
PRESSURE-MITIGATION APPARATUSES FOR IMPROVED TREATMENT OF IMMOBILIZED PATIENTS AND ASSOCIATED SYSTEMS AND METHODS
Introduced here are pressure-mitigation apparatuses able to mitigate the pressure applied to a human body by the surface of an object. A controller device can be fluidically coupled to a pressure-mitigation device that includes a series of selectively inflatable chambers. When a pressure-mitigation device is placed between a human body and a surface, the controller device can continuously, intelligently, and autonomously circulate air through the chambers of the pressure-mitigation device. As further discussed below, the controller device may cause the chambers to be selectively inflated, deflated, or any combination thereof. Such an approach is useful in a variety of contexts. For example, pressure-mitigation apparatuses may be used to improve treatment of patients suffering from respiratory illnesses and patients who are partially or completely immobilized for extended durations (e.g., as part of a medical procedure).
Portable negative-pressure medical/dental procedures and isolation chamber

The apparatus comprises an air source connected to a closed chamber for sealable disposition over the head, neck and upper thorax of the treatment subject with the chamber having air ports, in and out. The chamber has rigid clear sides and a plurality of sealed ports, with the ports including sealed armholes for access, and with sealed gloves connected to the sealed armholes. The chamber also has at least one instrument hatch to permit introduction into the chamber of instruments for carrying-out the selected treatment procedure.
