A system and method for the real-time management of a device, and more particularly to the establishment and enforcement of policies or rules associated with the feature or functions that may be performed with the device, such as making and receiving calls, exchanging data, playing games and music, sending and receiving email, accessing web sites, and paying for goods and services. If a child or employee is using the device, there may be a need to regulate how that device can be used and to determine who will pay for what goods or services. In addition to providing all of the features associated with a device, service providers need to be able to establish and enforce rules (policies) regulating how and when that device can be used and who will pay for a good or service requested by the user of the device.

Aspects of the disclosure include generating a first value for a first threshold corresponding to a first network connection involving a user equipment, generating a second value for a second threshold corresponding to a second network connection involving a user equipment, transmitting the first value and the second value to the user equipment, based on the transmitting of the first value, receiving a first report from the user equipment, wherein the first report indicates that the user equipment measured a first signal strength associated with the first network connection in an amount that is less than the first value, and based on the transmitting of the second value, receiving a second report from the user equipment, wherein the second report indicates that the user equipment measured a second signal strength associated with the second network connection in an amount that is greater than the second value. A service processing method, a service processing apparatus, and a communications system are provided. The service processing method includes: receiving, by an access network device, from a core network device, a bearer setup request message of a voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) service; and rejecting, by the access network device, the bearer setup request message when determining that LTE network signal quality of a terminal of the VoLTE service cannot satisfy the VoLTE service.

A service processing method, a service processing apparatus, and a communications system are provided. The service processing method includes: receiving, by an access network device, from a core network device, a bearer setup request message of a voice over Long Term Evolution (VoLTE) service; and rejecting, by the access network device, the bearer setup request message when determining that LTE network signal quality of a terminal of the VoLTE service cannot satisfy the VoLTE service.

A communication system provides secure communication between two nodes in a self-organizing network without the need for a centralized security or control device. A first node of the two nodes is provisioned with one or more security profiles, auto-discovers a second node of the two nodes, authenticates the second node based on a security profile of the one or more security profiles, selects a security profile of the one or more security profiles to encrypt a communication session between the two nodes, and encrypts the communication session between the two nodes based on the selected security profile. The second node also is provisioned with the same one or more security profiles, authenticates the first node based on a same security profile as is used to authenticate the second node, and encrypts the communication session based on the same security profile as is used for encryption by the first node.

A communication system provides secure communication between two nodes in a self-organizing network without the need for a centralized security or control device. A first node of the two nodes is provisioned with one or more security profiles, auto-discovers a second node of the two nodes, authenticates the second node based on a security profile of the one or more security profiles, selects a security profile of the one or more security profiles to encrypt a communication session between the two nodes, and encrypts the communication session between the two nodes based on the selected security profile. The second node also is provisioned with the same one or more security profiles, authenticates the first node based on a same security profile as is used to authenticate the second node, and encrypts the communication session based on the same security profile as is used for encryption by the first node.

Methods, systems, and computer readable media for supporting mobile originated data multicasting in a communications network.in a communications network are disclosed. One method includes receiving, from a consumer network function (NF) in a communications network, a deliver request message containing mobile originated (MO) data corresponding to a protocol data unit (PDU) session, wherein NIDD context information stored at NEF and referred by a context identifier in the deliver request message includes a subscriber identifier and a data network identifier associated with a user device requesting the PDU session and determining that a rule entry belonging to a plurality of rule entries contained in a multicasting ruleset matches at least one of the subscriber identifier and the data network identifier included in the NIDD context information that is stored at the NEF and referred by the context identifier in the deliver request message. The method further includes accessing a list of NF identity objects in the rule entry in response to determining the rule entry matches at least one of the subscriber identifier and/or the data network identifier and delivering the MO data to each of a plurality of NF endpoints specified in the rule entry in accordance with a routing condition indicated in each of the NF identity objects respectively associated with each of the NF endpoints.

The present disclosure is directed to method in a mobility management node and such a node for delivering data to a wireless communication device (WCD) served by the mobility management node, operating in a communication network comprising a network entity (NE) and a radio access network (RAN) node serving the WCD, the method comprises: obtaining capability information indicating whether the RAN node supports acknowledgement of a successful delivery of data to the WCD; receiving a data message sent by the NE comprising user data intended for the WCD; sending a control plane message comprising the user data to the RAN node for further delivery to the WCD; sending a response to the NE indicating the outcome of the data delivery.
