Multicast over wireless network with the assistance of power-efficient peer group discovery

A method, an apparatus, and a computer program product for wireless communication are provided. The apparatus may be a data source determining to send a multicast transmission for a multicast group having a multicast group identifier, wirelessly communicating an expression with at least one node in the multicast group, the expression based on the multicast group identifier, and sending the multicast transmission to the at least one node. The apparatus may a data receiver determining to receive a multicast transmission for a multicast group having a multicast group identifier, wirelessly communicating an expression with a data source in the multicast group, the expression based on the multicast group identifier, and receiving the multicast transmission from the data source.

Feature management of a communication device

A system and method for the real-time management of a device, and more particularly to the establishment and enforcement of policies or rules associated with the feature or functions that may be performed with the device, such as making and receiving calls, exchanging data, playing games and music, sending and receiving email, accessing web sites, and paying for goods and services. If a child or employee is using the device, there may be a need to regulate how that device can be used and to determine who will pay for what goods or services. In addition to providing all of the features associated with a device, service providers need to be able to establish and enforce rules (policies) regulating how and when that device can be used and who will pay for a good or service requested by the user of the device.

Dynamic aggression management of cellular connectivity

This disclosure relates to techniques for dynamic selection of connection attempt throttling algorithms based on user context. According to some embodiments, a wireless device may monitor certain current conditions of the UE, such as battery level, user activity level, motion level, and/or other conditions. Depending at least in part on the current conditions of the UE, cellular connection attempt parameters may be selected. In some conditions the cellular connection attempt parameters may be selected such as to allow more aggressive pursuit of cellular connectivity, while in other conditions the cellular connection attempt parameters may be selected such as to allow less aggressive pursuit of cellular connectivity.

ROAMING LTE EMERGENCY CALL WITH CALL BACK NUMBER RETRIEVAL
20170366954 · 2017-12-21 ·

A roaming wireless user device on a Visited Public Land Mobile Network (VPLMN) may initiate a Long-Term Evolution (LTE) emergency call to a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP). Accordingly, a Proxy Call Session Control Function (P-CSCF) of the VPLMN may receive an anonymous Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) invite message for the LTE emergency call. The anonymous SIP invite message lacks a Mobile Station International Subscriber Directory Number (MSISDN) of the wireless user device but has an International Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) of the wireless user device. The anonymous SIP invite message is forwarded to a Location Retrieval Function (LRF) in a Gateway Mobile Location Centre (GMLC) of the VPLMN. The LRF obtains a MSISDN of the wireless user device that matches the IMEI in the anonymous SIP invite message from a database of the GMLC, such that the MSISDN is routed with the LTE emergency call to the PSAP.

METHODS AND SYSTEMS FOR HANDOVER OF AN EMERGENCY CALL BETWEEN DIFFERENT WIRELESS NETWORKS
20170366955 · 2017-12-21 ·

A method is provided to enable handoff of an emergency services call between different network operators. A UE may establish a first call with a first network for a first network operator based on a first wireless access type, where the first call is an emergency services call to a PSAP. The UE may then determine impaired wireless coverage for the first wireless access type and unimpaired wireless coverage for a second wireless access type for a second network, where the second network is for a second network operator different to the first network operator. The UE may then establish a second call with the second network based on the second wireless access type, where the second call is a continuation of the first call to the PSAP. In embodiments, the first wireless access type is WiFi and the second wireless access type is cellular.

Method and system for emergency notification

Method and apparatus for notifying an emergency responder of a vehicle emergency. Communication is established with a cellular telephone located within the vehicle. The communication link is monitored and the vehicle occupant is notified of link loss. The apparatus monitors vehicle safety systems for detection of an emergency condition. Upon detection, the occupant is notified that an emergency call will be made. If no cancellation is received, vehicle location information is obtained from a global position system, synthesized into voice signals, and communicated to an emergency responder using the cellular telephone. A plurality of occupant and vehicle emergency information may also be provided. Emergency responders may be provided with a touch tone menu to select among the available information. Vehicle and occupant information may be communicated to the apparatus from external sources, such as a web server database via cellular telephone connection, or removable memory.

Providing temporary callback number for emergency calls
09848310 · 2017-12-19 · ·

A system, method, and computer readable medium comprising instructions for providing temporary callback number for emergency calls is disclosed. A determination is made as to whether a restriction is imposed on a mobile user for incoming calls. A temporary callback number for the mobile user is generated if the restriction is imposed. A request for a callback to the mobile user comprising the temporary callback number is detected. The callback is routed to the mobile user using the temporary callback number.

Method for communicating with other devices, and communication device

One embodiment relates to a method performed by a converged personal network service (CPNS) enabled entity. The communication method comprises a step in which the CPNS enabled entity transmits a request message for instructing performance of a discovery procedure to a first PNE which belongs to a first network if a second PNE which belongs to a second network is not found in the coverage of the first network at the state where the CPNS enabled entity is established as a gateway for managing the first network; a step in which the CPNS enabled entity receives, from the first PNE, a response message; and a step of transmitting, based on the response message, a bridge request message for requesting that the second PNE operates as a bridge for interconnecting the first network and the second network, to a second gateway which manages the second network.
