Underground Shelter with Air-Intake System
A sheltering system comprised of a housing unit made of at least one panel connected to a base with one or more entrances into the housing unit and a structural framework with at least one beam that extends the length or width of a panel or base on the housing unit. The beam has at least one notch near the joining of two panels or a panel and the base. The housing unit may be connected to an air intake system that allows for air to move into the interior of the housing unit and then egress out
Barrier members for a building debris containment system
A debris containment system includes channel units that are configured to attach to perimeter structural members of the building (e.g., vertical columns and/or horizontal beams) and extend outward from the perimeter of the building. Channel units can be produced in any length or lengths needed for a given application. These channel units are used to lift and support barrier members (e.g., nets, tarps, canvas/fabric, or other barrier members) to create barriers along the perimeter of the building. Importantly, these channel units are generally attached directly or indirectly (e.g., via temporary vertical members) to structures that will remain on the building (e.g., structural columns and beams of the building) as opposed to being used with separate framing structures erected outside of the building perimeter, although in some exemplary embodiments, channel units can be used on structures erected outside of the perimeter of the building.
Modular survival canvas for outdoor shelter
A modular recreational and/or survival canvases are disclosed. Each canvas may be used alone or in combination with other canvases to provide shelter. Each canvas includes a base substrate including a plurality of fastener, a plurality of sleeves, and an outer fringe. In a refinement, the canvas may be of a shape such as a hexagon with alternating fasteners along its perimeter such that it may cooperate with one or more other modular canvases to form larger shelters. In one or more embodiments, the canvases may be combined with a construction block and one or more stakes.
In situ measurement station for monitoring wind and water properties in extreme hydrodynamic conditions
The present disclosure describes various embodiments of systems, apparatuses, and methods for large-scale processing of weather-related data. For one such system, the system comprises a database of weather-related data providing from a plurality of weather monitoring stations and a plurality of interconnected processors for coordinating a data processing job for processing a set of input weather-related data from the database. Accordingly, the input data comprises sensor data from an array of weather monitoring stations positioned on an open shoreline during a hydrodynamic event, weather model data for the hydrodynamic event, and at least one of air-craft reconnaissance data or satellite reconnaissance data regarding the hydrodynamic event, wherein the plurality of interconnected processors are configured to assimilate the input data and generate, using machine learning, an improved weather prediction model for the hydrodynamic event. Other systems, apparatuses, and methods are also provided.
SOLAR POWERED SHELTER FOR PRODUCING AND STORING ENERGY AND/OR WATER
The present disclosure is directed to a solar-powered shelter for producing and storing electrical power and/or water; the shelter comprises a roof (1) arranged with one or more photovoltaic modules (4) and/or one or more devices (17) for dehumidifying ambient air, and a structure (8,9) arranged underneath the roof.
METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR CONNECTING PRECAST CONCRETE ELEMENTS
An apparatus for connecting precast elements, wherein the apparatus includes a first part adapted for being cast into a first one of the precast elements, and the apparatus further includes a second part adapted for being cast into a second one of the precast elements, wherein the first part and the second part are arranged to receive a fastener for fastening the second precast element relative to the first precast element with the fastener crossing a joint between the precast elements at an angle to the joint.
EXIT DEVICE FOR HIGH WIND ENVIRONMENTS
A door latch system includes an exit device having a housing mounted to an unsecured side of a door. A latch assembly is mounted in the housing and includes a latch for releasably securing the door in a door frame. An actuating assembly includes a driving member. A push bar is configured to be received within the housing. Relative movement between the push bar and base plate so as to reduce the distance between the push bar and base plate moves the driving member and latch to release the door from the door frame. A dashpot is connected to the driving member and configured to allow movement of the driving member when the push bar is manually depressed but to resist movement of the driving member when a secure side of the door experiences a high velocity impact. A method of resisting unwanted unlatching of the latch is also disclosed.
WATER GAUGE FOR ON-SITE MONITORING AND EARLY WARNING
A water gauge for on-site monitoring and early warning includes an alarm part, a control part and a retractable part. The retractable part is fixedly connected with the alarm part at the top, and the control part at the bottom; the alarm part is electrically connected with the control part through a wire; the control part compares the water level measured by the retractable part with a preset threshold, to determine whether the alarm part needs to give an alarm. When the water on the road rises to the warning line of 30 cm set on the water gauge during a rainstorm, the warning light on the top of the water gauge will start to flash, and the water gauge will give an alarm through the speaker, reminding the pedestrians and vehicles not to pass the section for the time being.
Panel for a building structure having a predefined curvature and a method of manufacturing such panel
A panel for a building structure has a predefined curvature. The panel has a generally rectangular shape with a curvature, such that the panel has a convex outer surface and a concave inner surface with a set of side edge regions and a set of end edge regions. The panel is at least one mineral wool fibre slab with a plurality of first strips adhered to the outer surface and a plurality of second strips adhered to the inner surface.
Landslide experimental device for simulating constant seepage flow
The present invention discloses a landslide experimental device for remotely controlling and simulating a constant seepage flow and weight load and an experimental method thereof in centrifuge test. The landslide experimental device includes a model box, a landslide device, a near-constant water flow control box, remote control devices and a water outlet pipe. The landslide device comprises a landslide model, a load balancing device, a weight storage device, an angle control panel and a tension bar. The remote control devices are arranged at the control box water outlet, at the control box water inlet, on the tension bar, on telescoping control sensors and on the weight storage device, respectively. With the present invention, the influences on the stability of landslide model with different landslide angles under the condition of the seepage flow and weight load can be simulated.
