Systems and methods for managing power on an electric power grid including a server for communicating IP-based messages over a network with distributed power consuming devices and/or power supplying devices, the IP-based messages including information relating to activities by the power consuming devices and/or the power supplying devices; and wherein the information is transformed by the system into settlement grade data corresponding to the activities of the power consuming devices and/or the power supplying devices.
Kerbside vehicle charger
A charging apparatus for a vehicle where a terminal (1, FIG. 2) is connected to at least one kerbside power/data unit (9) to provide a power (4) and a data connection (5) to the power/data unit (9), the power/data unit (9) being connected to a nearby vehicle (17) to provide power to charge the vehicle (17) and receive data from the vehicle (17). The fact that the kerbside power/data unit (9) can charge a vehicle (17) using power supplied from a terminal (1, FIG. 2) and can transmit data from the vehicle (17) to the terminal (1, FIG. 2) provides the power and data requirements for connected autonomous vehicles at a kerbside location.

A method of operating an intelligent electronic device that is in a wireless communication with a base station of a wireless communication system is described. The method includes monitoring at least two QoS parameters of the wireless communication and controlling the operation of the intelligent electronic device based on the at least two QoS parameters, wherein the intelligent electronic device includes a wireless communication module, wherein the wireless communication is carried out between the wireless communication module and the base station of the wireless communication system, and wherein the at least two QoS parameters are determined at least in part in the wireless communication module and are transferred to a control module of the intelligent electronic device over an interface.
Power system restoration incorporating diverse distributed energy resources
An example system includes an aggregator configured to receive a service collaboration request and iteratively determine, based on minimum and maximum power values for DERs under its management, an optimized operation schedule. The aggregator may also be configured to iteratively determine, based on the optimized operation schedule, an estimated flexibility range for devices under its management and output an indication thereof. The system may also include a power management unit (PMU) configured to iteratively receive the indication and determine, based on a network model that includes the estimated flexibility range, a reconfiguration plan and an overall optimized operation schedule for the network. The PMU may also be configured to iteratively cause reconfiguration of the network based on the plan. The PMU and aggregator may also be configured to iteratively, at a fast timescale, cause energy resources under their management to modify operation based on the overall optimized operation schedule.

A system and method for protection of an electrical grid. A respective one of the substations of the system including: a first directional protective relay to generate a signal operating on the electrical power line between the respective one of the substations and a remote one of the substations; a cyber health module to receive remote signals from two remote directional protective relays and output a reliability signal based on consistency of the remote signals and a status of the communication channels being operational; a circuit breaker to interrupt electrical power flow when directed; and a comparison circuit to receive signals and to direct the circuit breaker to interrupt electrical power flow when the reliability signal from the cyber health module indicates consistency, the first directional protective relay indicates fault, and at least one of the remote directional protective relays indicate fault.
DETECTION OF RINGDOWN FOR ELECTROMECHANICAL MODE IDENTIFICATION IN ONLINE ENVIRONMENT
A system includes a processor operatively coupled to memory. The processor performs operations that include obtaining electrical measurements of a power system. The processor determines a scaled energy value of a first set of the electrical measurements that are scaled with respect to a second set of electrical measurements. The processor determines that a potential ringdown event occurred by comparing the scaled energy value to a threshold energy value. The processor determines that the potential ringdown event is a confirmed ringdown event by comparing a scaled error value to a threshold error value. The processor generates one or more mode estimates from the confirmed ringdown event.
