The network switch includes one or more processors configured to receive at the first port a communication packet associated with the first electric device and the second electric device, determine if the communication packet satisfies a plurality of protocol constraints, and in response to the communication packet satisfying the plurality of protocol constraints, input one or more message characteristics from the communication packet into a model associated with a first industrial process. The model is configured to output a process behavioral classification based on the one or more message characteristics. The one or more processors receive a process behavioral classification for the communication packet, and selectively generate a control action for the ICS based on the process behavioral classification.

Twinning service for groups of internet of things (IOT) devices

IoT twinning groups can be dynamically created. These twinning groups can be activated based on selected triggers. As part of twinning operation, service delivery can be re-directing away from the primary device to the IoT twinning group. Messages originating from members of the IoT twinning group can be processed and forwarded externally as if they came from the primary device. Further, the twinning service can be de-activated based on selected triggers.

Smart luminaire group control using intragroup communication

A smart luminaire system in which a primary luminaire controls and/or communicates with a set of one or more secondary luminaires may be disposed in a hazardous environment, such as an industrial process plant, manufacturing facility, oil refinery, etc. The primary luminaire may send driving commands to the set of secondary luminaires via an analog portion of a hybrid wired communication interface, and the driving commands may cause a driver of a second luminaire to energize on-board illumination source(s) at various intensities. The primary luminaire may send and/or receive administrative messages to/from the secondary luminaires via a digital portion of its hybrid wired communication interface. The smart luminaire system may be a stand-alone system, or may communicate with a controller or back-end system via a wireless communication interface of the primary luminaire, e.g., to receive control instructions and/or to send consolidated administrative messages on behalf of the smart luminaire system.

20210367642 · 2021-11-25 · ·

A method for execution in a central controller comprises obtaining an interconnection topology for a plurality of nodes interconnected via hybrid data/power links; obtaining a power distribution map associated with the topology; and causing DC power to be distributed to the nodes via the links according to the power distribution map. Also, such a node in which there is at least one power-receiving port and at least one power-transmitting port, a controller and power switching circuitry. The controller operates based on power drawn from a portion of the DC power received via the power-receiving port. The controller determines a destination of data packets received via any of the ports and outputting those of the received data packets that are not destined for the network device via another one of the ports. The controller also causes the power switching circuitry to output via plural power-transmitting ports respective portions of the received DC power received at the power-receiving port.

METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR CONNECTIVITY DIAGNOSTICS IN COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS

Described is a method and system for connectivity diagnostics in communication systems. The method comprises: querying a first communication device at a first time and a second time to determine whether a second communication device is connected to the first communication device and to determine a value of an operational parameter at the first and second times; and determining the second communication device disconnected from the first communication device based on detecting the second communication device was connected to the first communication device at both the first time and the second time, and detecting the value of the operational parameter at the second time is inside a range of threshold values. In one embodiment, the method comprises determining a link is unstable for connectivity based on connection duration, number and/or pattern of connection and/or disconnection events, and/or traffic activity during connection and/or disconnection events.
