20230049744 · 2023-02-16 ·

Hatchling supports, hatchling support systems, and methods of using the same. The hatchling supports and methods of using the same may employ a cradle in combination with a calming band, with the cradle and calming band providing gentle support of a hatchling supported in the hatchling supports. The hatchling support systems and methods of using the same may include a cam with cam sections having different cam radii may provide the ability to gently transition the support and restraint provided to hatchlings during the loading and unloading of hatchlings from hatchling supports. In some cases, compression delivered to hatchlings in hatchling supports having both a cradle and calming band may be adjusted.

DEVICE AND METHOD FOR MANAGING BIRD POPULATIONS
20180000054 · 2018-01-04 ·

The system for managing bird populations includes a drone; a disruptor comprising an extension arm having a proximal end and a distal end, the proximal end being operatively coupled with the drone, and the distal end comprising a tool portion, where the tool portion comprises a piercing element constructed for engagement with one or more eggs in a nest; and a remote control system. The remote control system may comprise one or more remote control units and a monitor.

The system can be used to manage bird populations by flying the drone above a bird's nest; positioning the drone above the bird's nest; and descending the drone to disrupt eggs in the bird's nest with the disruptor.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR EFFECTING SPERM COLLECTION AND ARTIFICIAL INSEMINATION IN SMALL BIRDS
20170258051 · 2017-09-14 ·

A method of artificially inseminating a hen includes the steps of securing a male bird, applying a semen extender liquid to a tip of a cloacal protuberance of the male bird, squeezing the cloacal protuberance to extract semen from the male bird into the semen extender liquid to form a mixture, applying a tip of a pipette to the mixture, drawing the mixture into the pipette, securing the hen, inserting the pipette into the hen's cloaca, and squeezing a bulb of the pipette to inject the mixture from the pipette into the cloaca. A holding device for restraining a bird during sperm collection and artificial insemination procedures has a base, an arm extending upward from the base, and an open-ended receptacle connected to the upper end of the arm. The holding device is useful in mitigating injury to the bird and the handler during the procedures.
