Vessel mounted artemia harvest device

A device mounted to a vessel for harvesting a subsurface concentration of artemia cysts. In certain embodiments, the device includes a vertically adjustable front net support, a vertically adjustable rear net support and a net having a first end secured to the front net support and a second end secured to the rear net support. A conduit can be coupled to the second end of the net whereby the concentrated artemia cysts are drawn from the second end of net to a processing destination. In certain embodiments, the net has an aspect ratio of at least approximately 4:1. The processing destination could be the vessel or some other destination. In certain embodiments, the vessels are equipped with a dewatering station to which the concentrated cysts are directed for further processing. In some embodiments, the net is secured to a frame which is in turn coupled to the front net support. The front net support can include one or more arms. In certain embodiments, the front net support includes a brace which can be attached to the vessel. The brace can include one more sleeves that correspond to the one or more arms and be hingedly attached to the vessel.

Delayed release device with expendable linkage for temporarily storing and restraining the buoy line and buoys of a shellfish or fish trap or the like, beneath the sea surface for a predetermined time interval

An apparatus that secures the buoy line and buoy to the top of the shellfish trap in an orderly manner until a galvanic timed release (GTR) coupling parts and releases the buoy to the sea surface. The GTR is a highly corrosive anode link which breaks after a predetermined period of immersion in seawater. After the GTR link breaks, the apparatus automatically releases the buoy. The unrestrained buoy rises to the surface so that the trap may be recovered. Until this time, marine mammals are protected from entanglement in the vertical buoy line. It is important that the buoy and, perhaps more importantly, the line associated with it, are packaged in a way to prevent fouling of the buoy lines. By design, the apparatus prevents the fouling of the buoy line that would result in the possible loss of the entire gear set.

COLLAPSIBLE BAIT NET

The present invention is a collapsible bait net comprising netting mounted to a flexible flat metal bar or blade joined at its ends by a fastening means to form a closed hoop net assembly that maintains its shape and structural integrity. The assembly includes six stabilizing cords positioned equidistant from each other along the circumference of the closed hoop, which cords converge at the center of the assembly, and are connected to each other by a fastening means. The six stabilizing cords are connected to a single draw cord which is used to cast the bait net into a desired depth of water then pull it back. The assembly collapses for easy storage by rotating or twisting into a double figure 8 configuration having three sections that are folded onto each other from top to bottom to create three smaller overlapping closed hoops.
