A biodegradable polymer usable in fishing gear and that biodegrades in aquatic environments. The polymer includes a polymer backbone that has monomeric units that are susceptible to hydrolytic degradation, and a plurality of pH responsive moieties. Each pH responsive moiety is grafted to a respective one of the monomeric units. The pH responsive moieties are relatively hydrophilic when exposed to an aqueous solution of a pro-biodegradation pH range to facilitate hydrolytic degradation of the monomeric units, and are relatively hydrophobic when removed from the aqueous solution of the pro-biodegradation pH range, to protect the monomeric units from hydrolytic degradation.

A fishhook holder 10 is configured to hold a fishhook against a soft lure and is made of a resin material, and includes a base 20 configured to contact an outer surface of the soft lure and a tapered shaft 30 protruding from the base 20 and configured to extend through the soft lure. The shaft 30 includes a basal end 30a coupled to the base 20, a distal end 30b opposite the basal end 30a in an axial direction of the shaft 30, an insertion hole 31 located between the basal end 30a and the distal end 30b and configured such that the fishhook extends through the insertion hole 31, and a mark 33 located between the insertion hole 31 and the distal end 30b and indicating a reference position in a case where a portion including the distal end 30b is cut off from the shaft 30.

The present invention relates to a novel bottom bouncer device. The device is designed to provide fishermen with lead-free bait at an elevated level above the bottom surface. Specifically, the bottom bouncer device is configured for a fishing rod and is both lead-free and weedless. The device comprises a round, brass rod with a split ring at the top and a snap swivel attached to the split ring. Further, the bottom nine inches of the rod may be turned down in a lathe to produce differing weights for the bottom bouncer device.

The invention is directed to a device that allows trolled lures (e.g., ballyhoo) to be used with decreased or eliminated snagging of the lure on grasses and weeds present in the water. The device includes a hollow, tubular body with a nose operably connected to a series of ribs via upper and/or lower arms. The connection of the ribs and arms create a tapered shape that mimics the head portion of an artificial or dead bait lure. The device further includes an upper channel that spans the length of the device, allowing fishing line to pass therethrough during use. One end of a hook guard (e.g., artificial worm) attaches to a peg positioned on the lower device arm. The second end of the hook guard slips over the point and barb of the fishing hook present on the lure. As a result, the sharp ends of the lure hook are prevented from being caught or hung by sargassum grass and other marine grasses (bay grass, sea grass, turtle grass, etc.).

The oscillating fishing lure is a fishing lure comprising: a body with a longitudinal axis, an uppermost surface, at least one hook, said first hook including a shank and a hook end, said shank being coupled to said body; a blade having an edge proximal to said body, wherein, during retrieval, a majority of said blade is oriented below said uppermost surface of said body; a joining mechanism whereby said blade is moveably coupled to said body, wherein said blade has freedom to move with respect to the roll, pitch and yaw axis only within strict mathematical limits; a line attachment mechanism, through which a fishing line is attached to the lure; and whereby retrieval of the lure causes the blade to oscillate in at least one dimension, and thereby causing the lure to erratically hunt. The oscillating-blade action imparts a natural swimming motion to the lure, emulating prey-species movements.

A fishing tackle comprising a hook with a protruding portion disposed on a shank of the hook and an artificial bait over-molded on the hook and protruding portion. The protruding portion includes a plurality of ridges disposed along a first section and second section. The ridges disposed along the first section are angled towards the proximal end of the hook, and the ridges disposed along the second portion are angled towards the distal end of the hook.

A fishing lure comprising at least two wires having a first end and a second end, wherein a first portion of the at least two wires are intertwined with one another, and wherein a predetermined distance from the first end a first bend is made and distal to the first bend, a second bend is made, and predetermined distance from the second bend a second portion of the at least two wires are untwined and a loop is formed at the second end of each of the at least two wires, a head molded around a portion of the first end of the at least two wires, a hook affixed to the head, and at least one spinner rotatably attached to the loop at the second end of each of the at least two wires, wherein the spinner is able to freely oscillate and vibrate.
