Water treatment compositions are provided that are effective for mitigating corrosion or fouling of surfaces in contact with aqueous systems. The water treatment compositions can include one or more azole compounds, one or more transition metals, and one or more dispersants, in addition to various other additives. The water treatment compositions can exclude phosphorus and still be effective. Methods for mitigating corrosion or fouling of a surface in an aqueous system are also provided.

SYSTEMS WITH ANTI-FOULING CONTROL AND METHODS FOR CONTROLLING FOULING WITHIN A CHANNEL OF A PLUG FLOW CRYSTALLIZER
20170312795 · 2017-11-02 ·

The invention generally relates to systems with anti-fouling control and methods for controlling fouling within a channel of a plug flow crystallizer. In certain aspects, the invention provides a system that includes a plug flow crystallizer having a channel, one or more heating/cooling elements, each operably associated with a different segment of the channel, and a controller. The controller is operably coupled to the one or more heating/cooling elements and configured to implement a temperature profile within the channel of the plug flow crystallizer that grows crystals in a plug of fluid that flows through a first segment of the channel and dissolves encrust in a second segment of the channel while having minimal impact on crystal growth in the plug of fluid in the second segment of the channel. In certain embodiments, these segments may be cyclically alternated, in that the segment in which crystal grows in one cycle becomes the segment in which crystal dissolves in the next cycle and vice versa, to realize a fully continuous crystallization process.

METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR STERILIZING AND DISINFECTING AIR AND SURFACES AND PROTECTING A ZONE FROM EXTERNAL MICROBIAL CONTAMINATION
20170304472 · 2017-10-26 ·

This invention relates to a method, process and apparatus for disinfecting and sterilizing all types of surfaces contaminated with microorganisms and toxic substances to render both inactive. Furthermore, this invention relates to both a method and apparatus for disinfecting and/or sterilizing breathable air and then using this air to protect a confined space from external contamination. The apparatus consists of a new ultra-violet (NUV) source that is more effective than mercury based 254 nm light for destroying DNA of virus, bacteria, spores and cists. It is most effective in breaking chemical bonds in toxic gases and Biotoxins that are useful to terrorists. It is combined with other apparatus that remove particulates and byproducts sometimes produced by the NUV source and maintains positive pressure of the confined space so as to prevent the influx of air from outside the protected zone.

Repel assembly and method

A repel assembly and method includes an engagement surface having an adhesive plane for securing to an object, a plurality of attachment spikes extending from the engagement surface at an angle transverse to the adhesive plane and a transport surface for supporting a fixture coupled to the plurality of attachment spikes, the fixture being positioned between the engagement surface and the transport surface. The repel assembly further includes an annular ring having an upper and lower ring coupled to the repel assembly, the lower ring having first and second ends spaced by a wiper body such that the annular ring repels debris from contacting and/or collecting on the transport surface.

Surface coating for high-quality white and / or grayware
20170282227 · 2017-10-05 ·

A surface coating for high-grade white and/or gray goods, i.e. items for domestic, sanitary and/or automotive use, in particular housing elements of corresponding devices and machines, as well as decoration, for example those housing elements which specifically have metallic applications and/or elements is disclosed. The surface coating is applied on a metallic or metalized surface structure and has hydrophobic property and/or oleophobic property. The surface coating is defined by a thickness which is less than a structure depth of the surface structure. The height of the surface roughness of the surface structure can thus extend significantly beyond the thickness of the surface coating, so that the surface structure promotes blurring of undesired residues in a kind of intrinsic capillary/channeling effect. Because of the blurring the contour of a soiling is obscured until finally it becomes wholly indistinguishable.
