Processes and/or machines for producing continuous plastic deformation, and/or compositions and/or manufactures produced thereby
Certain exemplary embodiments can provide a manufacturing method, process, machine, and/or system for continuously consolidating granular materials, creating new alloys and/or composites, and/or modifying and/or refining material microstructure, by using plastic deformation of feedstock(s) provided in various structural forms. Materials produced during this process can be fabricated directly and/or in forms such as, e.g., wires, rods, tubes, sheets, plate and/or channels, etc.
Method for forming hollow profile non-circular extrusions using shear assisted processing and extrusion (ShAPE)
A process for forming extruded products using a device having a scroll face configured to apply a rotational shearing force and an axial extrusion force to the same preselected location on material wherein a combination of the rotational shearing force and the axial extrusion force upon the same location cause a portion of the material to plasticize, flow and recombine in desired configurations. This process provides for a significant number of advantages and industrial applications, including but not limited to extruding tubes used for vehicle components with 50 to 100 percent greater ductility and energy absorption over conventional extrusion technologies, while dramatically reducing manufacturing costs.

Tooling for friction stir processing
A friction stir processing system can include a rotatable die assembly. The rotatable die assembly can include a die body and a plurality of die segments. The die body includes a die base and a die stem. The die stem extends axially from the die base, the die stem defines an extrusion cavity, and the die body is formed from a first material. The plurality of die stems are coupled to the die stem. The plurality of die segments are disposed around the extrusion cavity to collectively form a die surface opposite to the die base. The plurality of die segments are formed from a different material than the die body.

EXTRUSION PRESS DEVICE AND EXTRUSION PRESS METHOD
An extrusion press device according to the present invention includes: an extrusion unit that includes a container configured to store an extrusion material and an end platen configured to support a die-from which the extrusion material is extruded; and a control unit configured to control operation of the extrusion unit, including container sealing force that presses the container against the die. The control unit performs control to apply complementary pressure corresponding to reduced container sealing force that is increased along with progression of extrusion, to the container in a direction of the extrusion during a period from start to completion of the extrusion.
Press for the direct extrusion of metallic material
The present invent on relates to a press for the direct extrusion of metallic material. The press comprises a supporting structure, a container receiving the metallic material to be extruded, a container holder element and a plurality of adjustment devices to adjust the position of the container holder with respect to the supporting structure. The container holder element is movable along an extrusion direction by means of a plurality of pads slidable along corresponding guides integral with the supporting structure. The press comprises at least one motorized member operationally connected to at least one of the adjustment devices to determine a variation of the position of the container holder with respect to the supporting structure.
