MACHINING METHOD
A spindle motor rotates a spindle to which a cutting tool is attached. A feed mechanism moves the cutting tool relative to a thin workpiece. A machining apparatus repeatedly performs a first process of causing the feed mechanism to feed the cutting tool relative to the thin workpiece in a height direction of a rising wall to perform a plunge process on the thin workpiece, and a second process of causing the feed mechanism to feed the cutting tool relative to the thin workpiece in a width direction or the height direction of the rising wall to perform a finishing process on the thin workpiece.
INDEXABLE LAY-DOWN CUTTING INSERT HAVING A CENTRAL BODY PORTION AND THREE CIRCUMFERENTIALLY SPACED CUTTING PORTIONS, AND CUTTING TOOL
In a cutting tool having an indexable lay-down cutting insert with a central body portion and three circumferentially spaced apart cutting portions, the cutting insert is removably secured to an elongated holding portion of an insert holder. Each cutting portion has a cutting edge with first and second cutting end points, the cutting edge formed at the intersection of an upward facing rake surface and a radially outward facing relief surface. In a top view of the cutting insert, parallel imaginary first and second vertical planes containing the first and second cutting end points, intersect the central body portion at first and second body side points, which are located first and second cutting distances from the first and second cutting end points, respectively. Each of the first and second cutting distances is greater than twenty-five percent of the first radius of an imaginary first circle circumscribing the cutting insert.
Holder for a broaching tool
Broaching tool comprising a cutting insert having a cutting edge and a holder for holding the cutting insert. The holder has a clamping region and a holding region, wherein the holding region comprises, at its end facing away from the clamping region, a seat for the cutting insert, which is configured and arranged such that, when the cutting insert is mounted in the seat, its cutting edge projects beyond the circumferential surface of the holding region. The holding region furthermore comprises, on its circumferential surface, a support for the cutting insert. A coolant channel extends into the inside of the holder, which coolant channel comprises two exit openings which, as seen in the circumferential direction, are arranged laterally adjacent to the support and/or in lateral surfaces of the support.

TOOL FOR ROUGHENING A METALLIC SURFACE
A roughening tool for roughening a metallic surface of an inner wall of a pre-drilled workpiece bore is disclosed. The roughening tool has a profiled contour provided between the tool clamping shaft and the tool tip. With this contour, a roughened structure can be produced through rotation of the tool by processing the metallic surface in a material removing or non-material removing manner The roughening tool includes at least one profiled web which extends along the tool axis, protrudes from a main tool part, and on whose outer web back the profiled contour is provided.
Tool holder device for broaching and slotting
The tool holder device for broaching and slotting, comprising: one main frame associated with one machine adapted to machine one workpiece; one working assembly associated with the main frame and comprising one supporting bar movable longitudinally along a first axis and a guiding mechanism for the supporting bar movable longitudinally along the first axis; one tool associated with the supporting bar and adapted to machine the workpiece; angular adjustment mechanism for adjusting the supporting bar, interposed between the main frame and the guiding mechanism and adapted to rotate the supporting bar around a second axis substantially orthogonal with respect to the first axis; and straight adjustment mechanism for adjusting the tool with respect to the supporting bar, interposed between the tool and the supporting bar, the straight adjustment mechanism being adapted to adjust the position of the tool along the second axis.
