A miter saw is provided. The miter saw includes a table for supporting a workpiece; a fence located on the table; and a beveling arm for supporting a saw blade, the fence operatively connected to the arm to move the fence when the blade is beveled so that the blade does not contact the fence when the blade is moved toward the table. A method of locating a workpiece near a saw blade is provided. The method may include moving an adjustable section of fence near a path the saw blade will travel by beveling the saw blade; and moving a workpiece to contact the fence near the saw blade path.

A cutting machine can include a cutting machine body that is movably supported above a table and capable of vertical movement, the cutting machine body can be positioned at an upward waiting position and a lower end position. The cutting machine body can include an auxiliary cover positioned around a portion of a blade and including a projection. When in the upward waiting position the auxiliary cover is not able to move upward because of the position of the projection, and in the lower end position the auxiliary cover is able to move upward.

A cutting apparatus including a first pusher for pushing and conveying the left side, toward the right side direction; a second cutter for cutting the right side of the large sheet block and sequentially cutting the right end to divide the sheet into long column unit blocks in the up-and-down direction; a right side remover for removing the remaining portion; a column unit block conveyer for conveying the column unit blocks in the right side direction while maintaining a predetermined interval thereamong; a second pusher for pushing and conveying the upper sides of the cut column unit blocks toward the lower side direction; a fourth cutter for cutting the lower side of the column unit block and sequentially cutting the lower end of the column unit block into small blocks; and a lower side remover for removing the remaining portion.

A machine for cutting and splitting logs includes a saw for cutting off a piece of wood from a log, a first receiver for a log that is to be cut, and a splitter for splitting a piece of wood into pieces, a splitting channel with a second receiver for the piece of wood that is to be split, wherein the splitting channel with the second receiver is downstream of the first receiver, and wherein the splitting channel may be tilted at an angle greater than 0 to horizontal when the machine is ready for use.

A machine for cutting and splitting logs includes a saw for cutting off a piece of wood from a log, a first receiver for a log that is to be cut, and a splitter for splitting a piece of wood into pieces, a splitting channel with a second receiver for the piece of wood that is to be split, wherein the splitting channel with the second receiver is downstream of the first receiver, and wherein the splitting channel may be tilted at an angle greater than 0 to horizontal when the machine is ready for use.

A compression spring is retained in a spring retaining portion provided in a fixing cover. By a pressing portion formed in a main body cover, the compression spring can be pressed to generate a biasing force in an opening direction of the main body cover. The compression spring is retained in the spring retaining portion. Accordingly, the fixing cover and main body cover can be easily assembled.

In some examples, an apparatus includes a base including an arm selectively movable with respect to the base. The arm is selectively rotatable about a first arm axis. A base plate is engaged with the arm. A tool is configured to be detachably coupled to the base plate. The tool is movable with the base plate when coupled to the base plate. The apparatus includes a first mode with the tool coupled to the base plate and the arm being selectively rotatable about the first arm axis, a second mode with the tool coupled to the base plate and the arm being constrained from rotating about the first arm axis, the arm being substantially stationary with respect to the base; and a third mode with the tool detached from the base plate.

A portable saw table apparatus for cutting oversized substrates at a work site which provides a centrally pivoted cutting table, the cutting surface of which is not interrupted by a central pivot element; and further comprises a saw support which is also not centrally mounted on the pivoting table. Also provided is a method for cutting oversized substrates such as commercial-sized trim or other construction materials onsite at a construction site.
