Reinforced box and method of manufacturing such box
A reinforced box for containing a plurality of items to be packaged includes a bottom wall and a top wall, a pair of first side walls and a pair of second side walls. The bottom wall, the top wall and the pair of first side walls are formed from a one-piece elongate element, which extends along a longitudinal axis and is formed with transverse fold lines. The pair of second side walls consists of two separate cardboard panels, and each of the walls is formed with longitudinal creasing lines defining pairs of first and second folded side wings. The pair of second side walls is glued to the bottom wall using a respective second side wing overlapping the bottom wall to reinforce its longitudinal edges. A method of making a box with a reinforced structure is also disclosed.
Paper-based composite container for off-gassing products, and method for making same
A paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal to establish fluid communication between an interior of the container and the environment outside the container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.
System and method for connecting multi-part container with inter-connecting features
Methods and systems for integrating multiple portions of a container are provided. The method and system are specifically designed for integrating multiple shell portions with ear lobe-shaped tabs. The method comprises: providing a first set of retention structures to be associated with a plurality of inter-connecting features formed on an edge of a first shell part, wherein the first set of retention structures comprise at least a lead-in feature and a retention feature; providing a second set of retention structures to be associated with a plurality of inter-connecting features formed on an edge of a second shell part, wherein the second set of retention structures comprise at least a deflection feature and a retention feature; and engaging the two shell parts with aid of the retention structures.
