11760528 · 2023-09-19 · ·

A paper-based composite container for an off-gassing product includes a paperboard can body having a substantially gas-impervious liner attached to an inner surface thereof, and a pair of substantially paper-based end closures attached to the opposite ends of the can body, each end closure defining a generally cylindrical sealing panel in contact with an inner surface of the can body. Heat-sealable materials are disposed on opposing surfaces of the sealing panel and can body. The sealing panels of the end closures are attached to the can body by heat seals. The heat seal for at least one of the end closures is discontinuous such that at least one vent channel extends through the heat seal to establish fluid communication between an interior of the container and the environment outside the container. The at least one vent channel is operable to vent excess gas pressure from the interior of the container.

A container with a deep recessed bottom end construction is provided. The container includes an inner receptacle having a sidewall and a bottom wall defining an interior volume within the receptacle. The container further includes an outer sleeve wrapped around the inner receptacle with a lower end extending below the lower edge of the receptacle to form a deep bottom recess within a lower portion of the container. The lower end of the receptacle sidewall has a taper angle that is different from a taper angle of an upper portion of the sidewall. The lower end of the receptacle sidewall may engage or contact the inner surface of the outer sleeve. The outer sleeve may include reverse bend and/or a second bottom wall onto which a lower end of the receptacle may sit.

Package for containers

A construct for holding a plurality of containers. The construct can comprise a tray portion comprising at least a bottom panel and a side panel foldably connected to the bottom panel, a cover portion comprising at least a top panel, an open configuration for inserting or removing the plurality of containers from the construct, and a closed configuration for at least partially retaining the plurality of containers in the construct. The top panel can be opposite to the bottom panel and the cover portion can be spaced apart from the side panel when the construct is in the closed configuration. The tray portion can be for at least partially receiving at least a first container of the plurality of containers, and the construct can be for receiving a second container of the plurality of containers between the first container and the top panel when the construct is in the closed configuration.
