In some illustrative embodiments of the present invention, a novel expandable slit paper expansion device design is provided that, among other things, avoid complications of prior systems and eliminates the crushing effect of the rollers. Among other things, the preferred embodiments provide a unique structure that provides a novel “S” shape path of the expandable slit sheet paper, such that the expandable slit sheet paper is tortuously weaved between at least two expansion rollers without being compressed there-between, in a manner that the expandable slit sheet paper follows along surfaces of the expansion rollers without pinching or compression that occurs in the background art.

Adjustable cutting and creasing heads for creating angled cuts and creases

A converting machine is used to convert sheet material into packaging templates for assembly into boxes or other packaging. The converting machine includes a converting assembly that performs a transverse conversion function, a longitudinal conversion function, and an angled conversion function on the sheet material to create the packaging templates. The converting machine includes a tool head with a converting instrument. The orientation of the converting instrument is adjustable to enable performance of the angled conversion function and at least one of the longitudinal conversion function and the transverse conversion function.

TENSION-ACTIVATED, EXPANDING ARTICLES WITH MULTIBEAM SLITS

The present disclosure relates generally to tension-activated, expanding articles that include a plurality of patterned slits. At least some of the plurality of slits are multibeam slits that, when the material into which the slits are formed is tension-activated form one or more multibeams. In some embodiments, these articles are used as cushioning films and/or packaging materials. The present disclosure also relates to methods of making and using these tension-activated, expanding articles.

Paper crumpling machine

A machine for pulling paper off of a roll and crumpling the paper increasing the surface area and bulk of the compressible crumpled paper. The crumpled paper is used as packing material, cushioning packaged parts and filling package voids.

Apparatus and method for folding

Discrete items are conveyed, preferably by a vacuum conveyor, in a machine direction toward a pair of rotating blades. A first intended target of folding, for instance a right portion of front and back panels of a diaper, travels up a ramp, raising the level of the intended target. A rotating blade passes under the intended target of folding, and folds the right portion of front and back panels of a diaper over. If desired, a second intended target of folding, for instance a left portion of front and back panels of a diaper, travels up a second ramp, raising the level of the intended target. A rotating blade passes under the second intended target of folding, and folds the left portion of front and back panels of a diaper over. The folded diaper then exits the folding system and travels downstream for further processing as desired.
