Convertible writing instrument assemblies are provided, including an outer barrel having a tapered nosecone with an aperture for a writing instrument tip and a grip portion, and an aperture for receiving an eraser or a push button therethrough, wherein the writing instrument assembly provides selective access to a volume defined by the outer barrel, and wherein the outer barrel and the volume are collectively configured to operably and interchangeably receive a mechanical pencil insert having the eraser and a retractable pen insert having the push button. Mechanical pencils and pens utilizing the convertible writing instrument assemblies are also provided, along with kits for providing such mechanical pencils and pens.

Multifunction pen

A multifunction pen is provided including a refill for a writing implement such as a ballpoint pen on a tip end side and including an electromagnetic induction-based electromagnetic induction refill on a rear end side such that there is no need to perform a switching operation between the writing refill and the electromagnetic induction refill. The multifunction pen includes a shaft tube 10 including openings at both of a tip end and a rear end, a writing refill 40 that is housed inside the shaft tube 10 and that includes a writing tip exposed through the opening at the tip end, and an electromagnetic induction refill 50 that is housed inside the shaft tube 10, that is exposed through the opening at the rear end, and that is employed in electromagnetic induction-based input.

Multifunction pen

A multifunction pen is provided including a refill for a writing implement such as a ballpoint pen on a tip end side and including an electromagnetic induction-based electromagnetic induction refill on a rear end side such that there is no need to perform a switching operation between the writing refill and the electromagnetic induction refill. A writing instrument includes a cylindrical outer housing, one end of the outer housing having an outer opening, and an electronic pen body stored in the outer housing. The electronic pen body includes a stylus, one end of the stylus in an axial direction of the stylus serving as a pen tip, and a cylindrical inner housing storing the stylus, the one end of the stylus serving as the pen tip extending from an inner opening at a distal end of the inner housing, the inner opening of the inner housing defining one axial end of a hole extending axially forming a stylus guide that enables the stylus to move axially. In operation, the pen tip of the stylus and a distal portion of the inner housing having the inner opening extend from the outer opening of the outer housing.

The colored ink cotton tubes are respectively connected to the relay cartridges and arranged in the pen shaft and the cartridge in parallel.
