RAILROAD ENERGY DELIVERY SYSTEM
20230109536 · 2023-04-06 · ·

Provided herein is an energy delivery system for transporting electrical energy from an electrical energy generation facility to an electrical energy consumption facility via rail. The energy delivery system can comprise a train comprising at least one rail car loaded with at least one battery system. The at least one battery system can comprise an energy transfer interface for wirelessly receiving energy from the energy generation facility when the train is located at the energy generation facility for charging batteries of the battery system and for wirelessly transferring energy stored by the battery system to the energy consumption facility when the train is located at the energy consumption facility.

Composite rail joint end post

An end post (30) for a rail joint assembly comprising: a top portion (12) consisting essentially of a first electrically insulating material comprising a fiber reinforced polymer material and having a profile substantially identical to cross-sectional shapes of rail head sections of first and second rails of the rail joint assembly; a base (16) having a profile substantially identical to cross-sectional shapes of rail base sections of first and second rails of the rail joint assembly; and a stem (14) disposed between the top portion (12) and the base (16); wherein the stem (14) and the base (16) consist essentially of a second electrically insulating material comprising a polymer material.

Line Selection for the Operation of Electrically Driven Rail Vehicles
20230173952 · 2023-06-08 ·

The invention relates to a line section for the operation of electrically driven rail vehicles, with a track which exhibits two parallel rails, with a contact line borne by an insulator, said contact line being arranged on one side of the track in a spatial region extending parallel to the rails, wherein the contact line is intended to supply current-collectors of the electrically driven rail vehicles with current and to support said current-collectors from underneath, and wherein the contact line and the insulator bearing the contact line are intermittently interrupted or not interrupted.

The invention is distinguished in that a support device which is non-functional for the power supply of the rail vehicle is arranged on the other side of the track in a second spatial region extending parallel to the rails, said support device being intended to support current-collectors of the electrically driven rail vehicles from underneath without supplying them with current.

Electrical surge management of railway signaling equipment

There is described systems and methods for managing an electrical surge of railway signaling equipment. A breaker includes a mechanical reset button that shifts positions in response to detecting the electrical surge exceeding a threshold amperage. An opto-isolator deenergizes in response to the position shift of the mechanical reset button. The event recorder transmits an alarm signal to a remote office system in response to the deenergizing of the opto-isolator.
