Head and neck restraining system
11540576 · 2023-01-03 · ·

A head and neck restraining system includes a helmet, a neck brace structure, and a tether system. The neck brace structure includes a neck extension that is attached to shoulder extensions. The tether system includes at least one ring structure that is configured to attach to the helmet and a single tether material that slides through the at least one ring. The single tether material is guided along the neck extension and attached to the shoulder extensions. The at least one ring structure is positioned between the neck and shoulder extensions along the single tether material and splits the load on the helmet to the neck extension and the shoulder extension along to the single tether material created by exerted forces.

Automatic vehicle window control systems and methods

Automatic vehicle window control systems and methods are provided herein. An example method includes determining a first operating height of a first window of a vehicle, determining a second operating height of a second window of the vehicle, comparing the first operating height with the second operating height, and selectively adjusting the first operating height or the second operating height to be substantially equal to one another when the first operating height and the second operating height are not substantially equal.

PORT CUSHIONING DEVICE, SYSTEM, AND METHOD
20220396235 · 2022-12-15 ·

A port cushioning device, system, and method are disclosed herein. The port cushioning device couples to a vehicle seatbelt. The port cushioning device includes a slipcover and a cushioning pad. The slipcover is formed from a material with a high coefficient of friction and defines a pad receiving opening so that the cushioning pad can be inserted therein. The cushioning pad defines a port opening on a first side thereof to receive a port or region of a user's skin that a port has been placed under. A thickness of the cushioning pad is dimensioned such that the vehicle seatbelt is spaced from the port or user's skin where the port is embedded so that pressure is not applied to that area, increasing comfort for the user while wearing the seatbelt.

Vehicle window control

A method includes predicting an environmental condition at a location to which a vehicle is travelling, the environmental condition including at least one of water, dust, and pollution, determining that an object within the vehicle is at a distance greater than a threshold distance from an unobstructed window of the vehicle, and then actuating the unobstructed window to a closed position based on the environmental condition and the object being at the distance from the window greater than the threshold distance.

Crash sensor system for determining crash events independent of polarity of satellite sensors

A crash sensor system includes an electronic control unit (ECU). The ECU has an accelerometer to measure longitudinal acceleration of the vehicle. Front crash satellite sensors are mounted at the front of the vehicle to detect a front or a rear crash event. When a front or rear crash event occurs, the first accelerometer is utilized to determine if the crash occurred at the front or the rear of the vehicle, regardless of the polarity of the front crash satellite sensors.

SLEEPING BEDSHEET CRASH PROTECTION SYSTEM FOR LIE-FLAT SLEEPING PASSENGER

A sleeping occupant crash protection system includes an occupant sleeping compartment positioned within an autonomous vehicle. A substantially flat platform of the occupant sleeping compartment supports an occupant reclining in a horizontal sleep position. An elastic bedsheet is positioned in direct contact with an upper surface of the platform positioned between the occupant and the platform. A sensing system is in communication with the occupant sleeping compartment and triggers deployment of a bedsheet displacement system during a vehicle rapid deceleration event.

Method for monitoring a driver of a vehicle by means of a measuring system
11464435 · 2022-10-11 ·

An apparatus and method for monitoring a vehicle driver having at least one sensor for measuring pressure and/or humidity. The sensor includes at least one capacitor having at least two electrodes, which may be arranged horizontally on a flexible support material. At least one dielectric layer may be arranged between the electrodes. At least one electrode, and/or the dielectric layer, and at least one, at least partially liquid-permeable and/or liquid-absorbing moisture layer may be arranged on a side facing away from a support material. At least one electrode and/or the dielectric layer may be arranged transversely between the support material and the moisture layer. A capacitance may be changed by liquid on the dielectric layer, and a processing unit measures and/or stores values from the sensor, creating a capacitive humidity sensor. The processing unit may send the to a central CPU, wherein this data may be processed by the processing unit.
