Water jug safety seal
11661255 · 2023-05-30 ·

The bottle safety seal may comprise a safety seal that covers the top of a bottle. The safety seal may prevent contaminants from collecting on exposed non-vertical surfaces of the bottle. As non-limiting examples, the contaminants may be from storing the bottle in a warehouse or other storage area where the bottle may be exposed to dust, dirt, spilled liquids, and other substances. The safety seal may be separable from the bottle such that the safety seal may be removed from the bottle prior to pouring or drinking from the bottle. As non-limiting examples, the bottle may be a water bottle, a wine bottle, a soda bottle, or a juice bottle. The bottle safety seal may be particularly suitable for use on 5 gallon water cooler bottles which may present larger exposed surface areas and may spend longer periods of time in storage before being used.

ABRASION RESISTANT FILM FOR BIOCONTAINERS

A biocontainer film enhanced with an abrasion resistant or “cut-proof” substrate. Such substrates can be combined with current biocontainer materials, via various techniques of embedding, coextrusion or laminating, to maintain the cleanliness and low extractables already validated for biotech manufacturing. The substrate of choice may be constructed from materials known to be more resistant to abrasion and sharp razor type cuts or from materials oriented in such a way to prevent puncture to occur. The new substrate must also be flexible to allow for typical folding as demonstrated by current packaging practices. The new substrate may be constructed from materials other than polymers such as metal, glass or carbon or in combination with polymers. A non-constrained pressure test is also disclosed.

Flexible packaging having microembossing

A flexible bag having an inner ply and an outer ply. The inner ply has a front panel and a back panel. At least one of the front and back panels having a microembossing on an inner surface thereof. A bag in box packaging having the flexible bag is likewise disclosed.

BAG SUPPORT STRUCTURE

A bag support has an inner surface and outer surface. The bag support includes a first generally planar side opposite a second generally planar side; a first foldable side opposite a second foldable side. The bag support is movable between an operation state and a storage state, the first and second foldable sides unfold to define the operation state and fold to define the storage state, and in the operation state, the inner surface, when bounded by a flat bottom and a flat top of which there is none, defines a volume within which a bag may be placed to receive objects, wherein the bag extends from the volume to engage the outer surface.

Abrasion resistant film for biocontainers

A multilayered film for biocontainers, an abrasion-resistant substrate attached to the interior or the exterior side of the film wherein the substrate is one of a polymeric woven fibrous material or a polymeric non-woven fibrous material, a woven fibrous material or a non-woven fibrous material having metal fibers, a woven fibrous material or a non-woven fibrous material having glass fibers, or a woven fibrous material or a non-woven fibrous material having carbon fibers; a polymer backing to attach the substrate to the film, including one of polyolefins, polyurethanes and nylons; an outer protective layer disposed on the outside of the substrate to encapsulate the substrate; and a gas impermeable layer that includes ethylene vinyl alcohol disposed intermediate to the substrate and the outer protective layer.

PACKAGING FOR ACCLERATING MYOGLOBIN CONVERSION AND METHODS THEREOF
20210274798 · 2021-09-09 ·

A package for packaging a meat product. The package comprises a multilayer film with a food contact sealant layer and a food additive in an amount sufficient to capture oxygen bound to myoglobin on the surface of the meat product. The meat product may have a conversion rate of oxymyoglobin to deoxymyoglobin with less than 5% metmyoglobin remaining on the surface of the meat product within a time period of 36 hours or less. The present invention may also be used in a low oxygen environment package, such as vacuum skin packaging.

HIGH-SHRINK, HIGH-STRENGTH PACKAGING ARTICLE EXHIBITING DIRECTIONAL TEAR
20210114356 · 2021-04-22 ·

A packaging article comprises a heat-shrinkable film having a total free shrink at 85° C. of at least 90%. The film has an inside seal layer, an outside polyester layer, and an inner oxygen barrier layer. A portion of the film contains a crosslinked polymer network. At least one film layer comprises an incompatible polymer blend. The article has tear initiators. The package provides post-shrink, full-length tear from the tear initiators to the opposite edge of the article, for easy product removal. The film has an instrumented impact energy-to-break of at least 0.65 J/mil, and/or an instrumented impact peak load strength of at least 66 Newtons/mil, and/or Truburst strength of at least 8 psi/mil.

BEVERAGE SYSTEM

A beverage system is provided that includes a cup having a frustoconical wall extending from a first end to a second end. The first end is coupled to a bottom wall and the second end defines a rim. Inner surfaces of the walls define a cavity. The rim defines an opening that is in communication with the cavity. A lid is coupled to the rim such that the lid covers at least a portion of the opening. A sleeve includes a collar that surrounds a portion of the frustoconical wall. The sleeve includes first and second arms. The arms each include a first end coupled to the collar and an opposite second end. The second end of the first arm directly engages the lid. The second end of the second arm directly engages the second end of the first arm when the second end of the first arm directly engages the lid to prevent the lid from being removed from the cup.
