The present invention concerns a functional film material comprising a substrate layer and a coating layer, the coating layer comprising a block copolymeric binder and a particulate metal pigment therein, the ratio of pigment to binder in the coating layer being selected with reference to the coat weight to provide the functional film material with an emissivity of less than 0.5, and the substrate and coating layer being selected to provide the film with a VWTR (ambient) in excess 400 gm.sup.−2 d.sup.−1 bar.sup.−1.

LAMINATED FILM AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME

A laminated film having a resin layer laminated on at least one surface of a base film. The laminated film is characterized by: the base film being a semi-aromatic polyamide film that has been at least uniaxially stretched; the resin layer having a thickness of 0.03 to 0.5 μm; and the close adhesion between the base film and the resin layer, according to the cross-cut method described in JIS K 5600, being 95% or more.

Tank base

A method for the construction of an improved tank base. A tank base is constructed for protection against accidental spills and/or leaks associated with a tank battery. The improved tank base comprises at least one part of a suitable substrate, which allows for the adhesion of an elastomer such as polyurea. Polyurea is preferably applied using a spray device which yields an average coverage of about 50-80 mils, and most preferably 60 mils. If more than one substrate is used, one or more substrates can be bound together with a fastening system. Once pressure is applied in the form of weight, the fastening system can be removed, resulting in an improved tank base having at least one seam and impervious to the fluid of the tank battery.

SHEET MOLDING COMPOUND AND FIBER-REINFORCED COMPOSITE MATERIAL

The present invention enables the achievement of: an SMC which has excellent flexibility, while being suppressed in tackiness; and a fiber-reinforced composite material which uses this SMC, thereby being reduced in voids after molding. In order to achieve the above, a sheet molding compound according to the present invention has the configuration described below. Specifically, a sheet molding compound according to the present invention is formed from reinforcing fibers and a resin composition, and has a weight content of the fibers of from 40% to 60% (inclusive) and an air bubble content of from 5% by volume to 30% by volume (inclusive), while satisfying the formulae below in a dynamic viscoelasticity measurement at 25° C. 10.sup.5 Pa G′ (s)≤10.sup.9 Pa 1≤G′(s)/G″ (s)≤5 G′(s): storage elastic modulus (Pa) of sheet molding compound at 25° C. G″(s): loss elastic modulus (Pa) of sheet molding compound at 25° C.

Protective films and related methods

A protective film includes a base layer and a wear layer, the wear layer comprising a UV cured hardcoat resin, and the UV cured hardcoat resin comprising surface modified silica nanoparticles. The protective film may comprise a pressure sensitive adhesive for adhesion to a floor. The protective film may be used, for example, as a protective floor finish.
