ROOFING UNDERLAYMENT USING A PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THE SAME
20220403215 · 2022-12-22 ·

A roofing underlayment capable of adhering to a roof deck comprising: (a) a roofing membrane having a first and a second major surface; and (b) a pressure-sensitive adhesive disposed on the first major surface of the roofing membrane and comprising: (i) at least one of butyl rubber or polyisobutylene; (ii) a first liquid plasticizer, preferably polybutene; and (iii) a tackifier, wherein the Tg of the adhesive is at most about 100 C. The adhesive provides high bond strength and excellent long-term heat aging, weathering resistance, as well as good low temperature properties while providing a moisture proof seam. A method for making the roofing underlayment includes applying the adhesive to the membrane then applying a release liner over the adhesive layer. A method for using the roofing underlayment comprises removing the release liner then adhering the underlayment to the roof deck by contacting the first to the roof deck.

This invention relates to improved adhesion compositions and textile materials and articles treated therewith. The improved adhesion composition comprises a non-crosslinked resorcinol-formaldehyde and/or resorcinol-furfural condensate (or a phenol-formaldehyde condensate that is soluble in water), a rubber latex, and an aldehyde component such as 2-furfuraldehyde. The composition may be applied to textile substrates and used for improving the adhesion between the treated textile substrates and rubber materials. End-use articles that contain the treated textile-rubber composite include, without limitation, automobile tires, belts, and hoses as well as printing blankets.

Pavement repair system

A pavement repair system is provided utilizing solid phase auto regenerative cohesion and homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization technologies. The system is suitable for use in repairing asphalt pavement, including pavement exhibiting a high degree of deterioration (as manifested in the presence of potholes, cracks, ruts, or the like) as well as pavement that has been subject to previous repair and may comprise a substantial amount of dirt and other debris (e.g., chipped road paint or other damaged or disturbed surfacing materials). A system utilizing homogenization by liquid asphalt oligopolymerization is suitable for rejuvenating or repairing aged asphalt, thereby improving properties of the paving material.

Provided is a PSA sheet having excellent moisture resistance with reduced gas emission.

The sheet body provided by this invention is a laminate sheet body having a PSA layer on at least one face. The sheet body has a moisture permeability of less than 90 g/cm.sup.2 per 24 hour measurement period in in-plane direction of bonding interface of PSA layer, with the sheet body having an internal volume (bulk) forming a permeation channel that has a prescribed length of 2.5 mm, the moisture permeability determined based on a modified MOCON method, at a permeation cell temperature of 40 C., with humidistat gas at a temperature of 40 C. and 90% relative humidity supplied to a wet chamber. It also has an amount of thermally released gas of 10 g/cm.sup.2 or less, determined at 130 C., over 30 minutes, by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry.
