ELECTROCHEMICAL CURING OF REDOX-ACTIVE SEALANTS AND ADHESIVES
Disclosed herein are methods and apparatuses for curing a polymerizable material capable of cure through a redox reaction by electrically contacting the polymerizable material with an anode and a cathode to create a voltage bias that promotes curing of the polymerizable material.
Compostable hot melt adhesive
A hot melt adhesive comprises a polylactide homopolymer or copolymer, such as polylactic acid; sulfonated copolyester; and at least one plasticizer, and is compostable. The plasticizer may be a solid plasticizer, such as a benzoate, and a second plasticizer may also be used. The adhesive is suitable for use in a variety of applications, such as case and carton applications, use with burlap or other compostable substrates for tree bulbs or plant seeds, and use with other compostable films, and is especially appropriate for dual-walled paperboard beverage cups. The adhesive demonstrates good bond performance comparable to non-compostable adhesives over a range of temperatures, reflective of the temperatures of hot and cold beverages.

METHODS AND POLYMER-CONTAINING FORMULATIONS FOR TREATING RETINAL DETACHMENT AND OTHER OCULAR DISORDERS
The invention provides methods and polymer-containing formulations for treating retinal detachment and other ocular disorders, where the methods employ polymer compositions that can form a hydrogel in the eye of a subject. The hydrogel is formed by reaction of (a) a nucleo-functional polymer is a biocompatible polyalkylene polymer substituted by (i) a plurality of —OH groups, (ii) a plurality of thio-functional groups —R.sup.1—SH wherein R.sup.1 is an ester-containing linker, and (iii) optionally one or more —OC(O)—(C.sub.1-C.sub.6 alkyl) groups, such as a thiolated poly(vinyl alcohol) polymer and (ii) an electro-functional polymer that is a biocompatible polymer containing at least one thiol-reactive group, such as a poly(ethylene glycol) polymer containing alpha-beta unsaturated ester groups. Formulations are provided containing a nucleo-functional polymer, a poly(ethylene glycol) polymer, and an aqueous pharmaceutically acceptable carrier, for use in the therapeutic methods.

Thioester adhesives for apparel products
Embodiments provide adhesives for apparel products. The apparel product includes a major component and a minor component. The major component forms a base portion of the apparel product and is configured to be supported and worn at least partially over a portion of a wearer. The minor component of the apparel product forms a secondary portion and is configured to be coupled to the major component. An adhesive is disposed at least partially between a portion of the major component and a portion of the minor component. The adhesive includes a material having a thioester bond.
