An encapsulant sheet suitable for encapsulating a light-emitting element in a self-luminous display, etc. A resin sheet having a polyolefin as a base resin, wherein the resin sheet is created as an encapsulant sheet for a self-luminous display or for a direct backlight, the melt viscosity of the encapsulant sheet, at a shear velocity of 2.43×10 sec-1 and measured at a temperature of 120° C., being 5.0×103 poise to 1.0×105 poise inclusive.
Low temperature vibration damping pressure sensitive adhesives and constructions
Described are viscoelastic damping materials and constructions which may demonstrate low temperature performance and adhesion and which may be used in making vibration damping composites. Viscoelastic damping materials and constructions may include polymers or copolymers of monomers according to formula I:
CH.sub.2═CHR.sup.1—COOR.sup.2 [I]
wherein R.sup.1 is H, CH.sub.3 or CH.sub.2CH.sub.3 and R.sup.2 is a branched alkyl group containing 12 to 32 carbon atoms.
Dielectric-heating bonding film and bonding method using dielectric-heating bonding film
A dielectric welding film capable of achieving a tight welding through a short period of dielectric heating, and a welding method using the dielectric welding film are provided. The dielectric welding film is configured to weld a pair of adherends of the same material or different materials through dielectric heating, the dielectric welding film including a thermoplastic resin as an A component and a dielectric filler as a B component and satisfying the conditions (i) and (ii): (i) a melting point or softening point measured in accordance with JIS K 7121 (1987) is in a range from 80 to 200 degrees C.; and (ii) heat of fusion measured in accordance with JIS K 7121 (1987) is in a range from 1 to 80 J/g.
ROOFING UNDERLAYMENT USING A PRESSURE SENSITIVE ADHESIVE AND METHODS FOR MAKING AND USING THE SAME
A roofing underlayment capable of adhering to a roof deck comprising: (a) a roofing membrane having a first and a second major surface; and (b) a pressure-sensitive adhesive disposed on the first major surface of the roofing membrane and comprising: (i) at least one of butyl rubber or polyisobutylene; (ii) a first liquid plasticizer, preferably polybutene; and (iii) a tackifier, wherein the Tg of the adhesive is at most about 100 C. The adhesive provides high bond strength and excellent long-term heat aging, weathering resistance, as well as good low temperature properties while providing a moisture proof seam. A method for making the roofing underlayment includes applying the adhesive to the membrane then applying a release liner over the adhesive layer. A method for using the roofing underlayment comprises removing the release liner then adhering the underlayment to the roof deck by contacting the first to the roof deck.
HOT MELT ADHESIVE COMPOSITION
The present invention relates to a hot melt adhesive composition having an enthalpy of crystallization below 5 J/g and comprising: a) at least 60% by weight of a composition a) comprising: —at least one copolymer A having a needle penetration higher than 15 dmm; —at least (co)polymer B having a needle penetration lower than 15 dmm; b) from 0% to 30% by weight of at least one tackifying resin.
ADHESIVE FOR BONDING DISSIMILAR MATERIALS IN MEDICAL DEVICE
Bonding dissimilar materials of medical device components can be carried out by applying an adhesive on at least one surface of two components which are composed of dissimilar materials and contacting the surfaces and exposing the contacted surfaces to heat and/or irradiate the adhesive to cure the adhesive and bond the surfaces. One medical component, e.g., medical tubing, can be composed of a non-polar, polyvinyl chloride free thermoplastic polymeric material and the other medical component, e.g., a medical connector, can be composed of polyacrylate, polyacrylonitrile, acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), methyl methacrylate-acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (mABS), polyester, and/or a polycarbonate material. The adhesive formulation can include: (a) a polyolefin oligomer having reactive acrylate groups and alkenyl groups, (b) an initiator, and optionally (c) a solvent.
Polymeric films and display devices containing such films
Polymeric films, which may be adhesive films, and display devices including such polymeric films, wherein a polymeric film includes: a first polymeric layer having two major surfaces, wherein the first polymeric layer includes a first polymeric matrix and particles. The first polymeric layer includes: a first a polyolefin-based low WVTR adhesive polymeric matrix having a refractive index n.sub.1; and particles having a refractive index n.sub.2 uniformly dispersed within the first polymeric matrix; wherein the particles are present in an amount of less than 30 vol-%, based on the volume of the first polymeric layer, and have a particle size range of 400 nanometers (nm) to 3000 nm; and wherein n.sub.1 is different than n.sub.2.
Methods, Articles and Adhesive Composition Comprising Unpolymerized Cyclic Olefin, Catalyst, and Adhesion Promoter Polymer
An adhesive composition is described comprising unpolymerized cyclic olefin, a ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) catalyst or precatalyst thereof, and one or more adhesion promoter polymers. In one embodiment, the adhesion promoter is a polyolefin comprising maleic anhydride or silicon-containing moieties. In one embodiment, a combination of at least one polymeric polyisocyanate and at least one polyolefin comprising maleic anhydride or silicon-containing moieties provides a synergistic improvement. In another embodiment, a polymeric polyisocyanate adhesion promoter comprising oxygen atoms in the backbone has been found useful for bonding substrates such as polyamide, polyether ether ketone, or polyether imide. Also described are methods of bonding a substrate and articles, such as an electric battery cold plate assembly.
Protective film
A protective film 10 of the present invention includes a base material layer and a pressure sensitive adhesive layer, and is used by being attached to a resin substrate 21 at the time of performing heat bending on the resin substrate 21. The pressure sensitive adhesive layer contains a polyolefin having a melting point of lower than 125° C. The base material layer has a first layer which contains a polyolefin having a melting point of 150° C. or higher, and a second layer which contains an adhesive resin. In a case of heating the protective film 100 having such a configuration, in a state of being interposed between two attaching substrates which are formed of polycarbonate, at 145° C. for 30 minutes, peeling off one attaching substrate on the side of the pressure sensitive adhesive layer at 25° C., and then viewing a surface of the one attaching substrate in a plan view, a residual ratio of an area where the pressure sensitive adhesive layer remains is 5% or less.
SEALING TAPE BONDING WEAKLY OR NOT AT ALL ON ONE SIDE
The invention relates to a sealing element with high sealing effect against air and moisture, which is easy to apply, and which moreover offers the possibility to reopen the sealed gap in an uncomplicated manner. Said solution is provided by an adhesive tape with differing adhesive power on the two main sides, which comprises a) a polymer foam layer and b) an outer adhesive compound layer and/or an outer thermoplastic film on one side of the polymer foam layer and is characterized in that, where the adhesive tape comprises an outer adhesive compound layer, the tape has a greater adhesive power on the side provided with the outer adhesive compound layer than on the opposing side and/or, where the adhesive tape comprises an outer thermoplastic film, the tape has a lower adhesive power on the side provided with the outer thermoplastic film than on the opposing side. The invention furthermore relates to the use of an adhesive tape according to the invention for sealing a joint between two components.
